Mark Passio and Barb Marinelli were handcuffed, detained and issued citations back on May 18. We reported on the incident, complete with video. We’ve now been made aware that just days after the incident, they both received letters from the United States Department of the Interior that their citations are considered void.

According to the letters (posted below) Superintendent Cynthia MacLeod informed Passio and Marinelli that the “citations… which were issued to you on May 18, 2013 will be voided. You do not have to pay any fine or appear in court.”
They are instructed to call 215-597-7077 is they have any questions.
Here are the letters to each of them:

Mark and Barb had been handing out flyers about the Federal Reserve Bank and promoting the “End the Fed” campaign. They had finished passing out the flyers with park rangers detained them, handcuffed them and held them for over 30 minutes, finally issuing them citations before they were released. Below is a copy of the flyers they were passing out.

Passio has stated that “criminal lawsuits will be filed against each individual who took part in this criminal activity.”
After finding out some of the things Passio promotes on his website, I can’t say that I agree with him on many things. However, clearly his rights were violated by the park rangers and I wish him well in his lawsuit.
