Confused: Texas Pastor Defends Trump and says Sodomite “Marriage” is the “Law of the Land”

Many have been disturbed recently by some of the remarks that Donald Trump has made concerning same-sex “marriage.” Trump stated that he was not going to be seeking to reverse the ruling in the Supreme Court. He says that it is the “law of the land,” and “I am fine with that.”

One of the Baptist pastors close to Trump and his campaign has begun to say the same thing.

Like President-elect Donald Trump, a prominent Baptist minister in Texas who backed Trump’s campaign efforts says that despite his opposition, same-sex “marriage” is “settled law,” and Christians should move on to another issue, such as abortion.

Robert Jeffress, who leads First Baptist Church in Dallas, spoke last week with Good Morning Texas, which noted that Jeffress’ longstanding fight against the issue is now “water under the bridge.”

“This is not going to be re-litigated by the Supreme Court. That is the law of the land. I wish it were different, but it’s not different,” he said emphatically

I do not want to bash Pastor Jeffress, but I would like to point out his Biblical and legal inconsistency.

You see, our God is not a God of confusion. He does not say no one day and then says that it does not matter the next. So, for instance, God does not tell us that sin is wrong until the society around us makes it legal.

Christ says in Matthew 24:35, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.” This means that no matter what men say is law, we as Christians must never concede to that which opposes God’s word.

Second, this same pastor wants Christians to give up criminalizing same-sex “marriage” and yet, try and get another “settled case” overturned. But how is it that one is the law of the land and the other we can overturn?

I agree that because abortion is murder it is more urgent, but do we really want to determine what wickedness we will oppose by how we judge rather than by God’s judgment?
