We have heard some wild, bizarre, and downright asinine accusations being leveled in the direction of the President as of late, but that doesn’t mean we’ve heard it all.
Trump has been compared to Adolph Hitler on numerous occasions. We’ve been told that he’s in love with his own daughter. He has been labeled a sexist, a bigot, and a racist. This animosity is fueled by the “resistance” movement and can be distilled into a simple ethos: Orange man bad.
The effort to insult this President has been extraordinary, and extends all the way into mainstream media.
During an appearance on Anderson Cooper’s CNN program, analyst Kirsten Powers had the following to say:
“Yeah. Why wouldn’t he keep doing what he always does? He seems incapable of not doing that. And I do think this moving people, punishing people, right, for testifying under oath and telling the truth, I think it’s thuggish. It really is. It’s beyond inappropriate, in the sense that the president operates like he’s a king, basically. Like these people are supposed to go up there and lie. They’ve been called before Congress. They’re telling the truth. They should not be punished for that. They work for the U.S. government, which is something that is actually bigger than Donald Trump.”
We must remember that this is hyperbole, not news. This is the upending of the President’s authority, live, on-air. This is fear mongering.
