There is no doubt that there are times that we should not say what is on our minds. We, as educated adults should easily recognize that our opinion is not wanted and will not be appreciated. However, there are times when we are asked what we think. In these times, we should speak without fear and in love. Then there are times that we are sent things and comments are elicited. In these times, we should not expect to be fired. But one Ford employee found out that only supporting opinions were wanted.
Christian News reports:
A former contractor for Ford Motor Company has filed a federal lawsuit against the automotive giant and its affiliated employment service for allegedly firing him last year when he disagreed with the company's views on homosexuality.
Christian News continued:
Thomas Banks has worked as a design and release engineer for Ford since 2011—that is until last August when he was fired on an accusation that he had violated the company's "anti-harassment" policy for responding to an email employee newsletter from the company. The newsletter contained an article regarding the 20th anniversary of Ford's Gay, Lesbian Or Bisexual Employees advocacy group (GLOBE).
Banks replied with a comment to express disagreement.
"Endorsing and promoting sodomy is of benefit to no one," he wrote. "This topic is disruptive to the workplace and is an assault on Christians and morality, as well as antithetical to our design and our survival. Immoral sexual conduct should not be a topic for an automotive manufacturer to endorse or promote."
Now, Banks may have used a tone in his writing that could be construed as combative. He might be seen as being a little harsh, but what he said should not have been grounds for termination. But, as we have said, it clearly was seen as such.
It is about time that we see Christians fighting fire with fire. It should cost these supporters of lawlessness. When we begin to take these people to task for their discrimination, and it will cost them as much to support sodomy as to oppose it, then we will see where they really stand. We have to stand with the Law of God.
