So we, and the conservatives we support, are false prophets. We and our candidates are evidently just "spreading noise."
At least that's what outgoing Speaker of the House and head congressional hack, John Boehner thinks. And I'm sure he's not the only one that thinks this. Every establishment Republican in both the House and Senate thinks as does Boehner.
So rather than exiting quietly like a real man, he instead goes on CNN to whine about conservatives to those who will be "understanding" of the speaker's plight. Of course they will. They'll happily have anyone on who will bash conservatives.
Boehner begins by whining about the conservatives wanting to get rid of Obamacare even at the cost of shutting down the government in 2013. He tells the CNN crew that it simply wasn't going to happen. He says, "This plan never had a chance."
He then complains that in 2013 over the August recess, his "Republican" colleagues were getting all this pressure from home to repeal Obamacare in what he said was a "fool's errand." So really, according to Boehner, it's all our fault. Us, an evil politicians like Ted Cruz.
"The Bible says beware of false prophets. And there are people out there, you know, spreading noise about how much can get done. I mean this whole notion that we're going to shut down the government to get rid of Obamacare in 2013 -- this plan never had a chance," Boehner said.
There's an old saying, "You never know until you try." I guess Boehner must not subscribe to that. Instead, he and the rest of establishment subscribe to the, "We know it can't be done, so let's not even try," theory. It's like a child saying, "I don't like something," without ever trying it. Somehow they just instinctively know they won't like it. Somehow he instinctively knows republicans can never beat Obama, so let's not even try.
They act like children. Boehner rolls over for headmaster Obama and the democrat faculty, and bullies all the rest of us. Actually, now that I think of it – he's more like the prison snitch, who publically proclaims fidelity for his fellow inmates, but then runs off to cut deals for himself with Warden Obama.
That is until he receives assurances from the Warden and the guards that no harm will come to him, or that his parole is imminent. Then, instead of backstabbing the other inmates, he can begin a frontal assault.
And that, I believe, is what he is now doing. "Asked specifically if Cruz, a GOP presidential candidate, was a 'false prophet,' Boehner didn't dispute it. He even pointed to his comment at a private fundraiser, leaked to reporters later, that Cruz is a 'jackass.'
'You can pick a lot of names out. I'll let you choose them,' he said."
Little Johnny ended the interview with the sage advice one would expect from a political hack who's been in government for 30 years.
"The advice Boehner said he'd offer the next speaker sounded similar to his criticism of his party's right wing. He urged his successor to accept that small victories are sometimes the best that can be done in a complicated, split system of governance."
What small victories? Have we had any victories to speak of since Obama took office? And what "split system?" The leadership in both Congress and the Senate has abdicated virtually their entire Constitutional authority to a dictator. You just gave it up – willingly!
He finished with this. "Keep the country's best interest in mind and have the courage to do what you can do. In our system of government, it's not about Hail Mary passes. It's the Woody Hayes school of football -- three yards and a cloud of dust. Three yards and a cloud of dust. It's a slow, methodical process." Meanwhile, Hall of Fame quarterback Obama is running up the score completing one Hail Mary after another.Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter.
