Despite having already forced Bernie Sanders into submission via the Democratic establishment, it appears as though presumptive nominee Joe Biden is offering the Vermont Senator’s supporters an olive branch of sorts.
Normally, Bernie Sanders would be required to dump a percentage of his earned primary delegates to Biden in this situation, but that’s not what the two have decided outside of the official channels.
Joe Biden is allowing Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) to keep the delegates his presidential campaign has won thus far as the former vice president works to avoid dividing the Democratic Party’s base.

“We feel strongly that it is in the best interest of the party to ensure that the Sanders campaign receives statewide delegates to reflect the work that they have done to contribute to the movement that will beat Donald Trump this fall,” a Biden official told The Hill. “We are in discussion with them now on how to best accomplish that.”
The gesture was nice, if not wholly transparent. Biden needs the Bernie voters behind him to stand a chance in November, and this gives them at least a reason to consider it.
But, could this be a trojan horse for the Democratic National Convention? Given the way that 2020 has gone so far, nothing could surprise us anymore.
