Bernie Sanders is no fan of Donald Trump, and likely never has been.
Like much of the “resistance” who embrace him, Sanders never truly seemed willing to give the Commander in Chief a chance. His preconceived notions about the Washington DC “swamp”, and Trump’s role in it, fly in the face of everything that the President has worked toward since his election in 2016, yet Sanders remains convinced that Trump is some sort of bigoted fool sitting in the Oval Office.
Now that Bernie Sanders seems to be, again, doomed to the rubbish heap in the democratic primaries, his campaign is rolling out a new strategy: Lambasting Donald Trump by publicly accusing him of several instances of bigotry.
Sanders spoke shortly after Trump’s remarks and described the president’s speech as “an hour and a half speech of lies, distortions, and total absolute nonsense.”
He apologized to those who watched the president’s address, noting they might have felt “discombobulated” and immediately took aim at Trump for failing to mention what Sanders considers one of the most pressing issues of the modern era: Climate change.
Sanders was briefly the front runner in the 2020 campaign for the democrats; a distinction destroyed by the entry of Joe Biden into the race, and Sanders’ own admission that incarcerated felons should be given the right to vote from inside prison. When asked if this included terrorists, such as the Boston Marathon bomber, Sanders replied in the affirmative.
Currently, Biden is enjoying a heavy lead over Sanders in the polls, with Elizabeth Warren now beginning to overtake Bernie in several key states.
