As Biden campaign tanks, major donors hold emergency closed-door meeting

Over the course of the last few weeks, it has become readily apparent that Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign ins’t ready for primetime.

From the onset of the septuagenarian’s run for the White House there were concerns that Biden wouldn’t have the energy to compete and remain relevant among the litany of far-left progressives populating that enormous field of candidates.   The former Vice President even received the unfortunate nickname of “Sleepy Joe” thanks to Donald Trump.

Then there were the predictable gaffes – something that Biden is known for, and which belie a possible concern over the aging politician’s mental health.

Now, after the Biden family’s business dealings in Ukraine have again been thrust into the spotlight, the 2020 candidate’s poll numbers are sliding in the abyss.  This has some of Joe Biden’s most prevalent donors scrambling.

Joe Biden’s top political donors gathered for an emergency closed-door meeting this weekend in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as his campaign falls behind rivals in both funds and polling.

The New York Times was first to report the meeting on Sunday, noting the financiers were treated to a behind-the-scenes view of the campaign’s headquarters and strategy, including a private address by the former vice president.

“In a sign of the attendees’ significant financial firepower, Mr. Biden himself addressed the several dozen donors who came to the retreat on Saturday, rallying them for 45 minutes about the months ahead, people there said,” the Times reported. “The campaign kept the session with Mr. Biden behind closed doors, despite pledging to open them to the press.”

Biden’s status as the Democratic frontrunner has been on the ropes for weeks, as Senator Liz Warren continues to rise past the former VP in poling both in Iowa and nationally.
