Florida Representative Allen West's interview with the Atlas Society to discuss the impact that Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged has had on his political views and the fight he wages to defend liberty. The interview was filmed in Washington, D.C. for the Atlas Summit.
While I do not agree with much of what Ayn Rand stood for simply because many of her views were anti-christian, there is no doubt that some of her ideas were clearly borrowed from a Christian worldview, such as individual responsibility, hard work, and liberty. Her epistemology was her Achilles heel.
Because her epistemology was flawed and not rooted in Scripture it will always be able to be undermined because of a shifting sand of what the political landscape ends up being. West points this out, without mentioning epistemology, in his statement concerning how the country is shifting away from the idea of a Republic.
