It seems to me that there is no Constitutional authority for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) or commonly referred to as the ATF. Not only has the administration's ATF been involved in knowingly and willfully walking 2,500 weapons across the Mexican border resulting in hundreds of deaths at the hands of Mexican drug cartels, but they have now been exposed as majorly screwing up in Wisconsin.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports,
Those working behind the counter, however, weren't interested in selling anything.
They were undercover agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives running a storefront sting aimed at busting criminal operations in the city by purchasing drugs and guns from felons.
But the effort to date has not snared any major dealers or taken down a gang. Instead, it resulted in a string of mistakes and failures, including an ATF military-style machine gun landing on the streets of Milwaukee and the agency having $35,000 in merchandise stolen from its store, a Journal Sentinel investigation has found.
When the 10-month operation was shut down after the burglary, agents and Milwaukee police officers who participated in the sting cleared out the store but left behind a sensitive document that listed names, vehicles and phone numbers of undercover agents.
And the agency remains locked in a battle with the building's owner, who says he is owed about $15,000 because of utility bills, holes in the walls, broken doors and damage from an overflowing toilet.
The sting resulted in charges being filed against about 30 people, most for low-level drug sales and gun possession counts. But agents had the wrong person in at least three cases. In one, they charged a man who was in prison - as a result of an earlier ATF case - at the time agents said he was selling drugs to them.
Other cases reveal that the agency's operation was paying such high prices that some defendants bought guns from stores such as Gander Mountain and sold them to the agents for a quick profit. The mistakes by agents are troubling and suggest a lack of planning and oversight, according to veterans of the ATF, who learned about the operation from the Journal Sentinel. The newspaper combed through police reports, court documents, social media and materials left behind by the ATF, all of which provide a rare view inside an undercover federal operation.
Not only has this department, as well as, the Obama Justice Department lost their credibility with Operation Fast and Furious, but they continually display why they should no longer be a part of the Federal government. These are the same people who will be in charge of implementation of the 23 executive orders that Barack Obama put forth. They are the same people who, should any of the House bills be passed or the Feinstein bill be passed, be the enforcers of those. What could possibly go wrong?
Do Americans actually think giving this agency power to conduct universal background checks is a wise thing? If you are one of those, please wake up and smell what the Feds are shoveling.
Well at least one cowboy in the area has his head out of..... the sand. Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, despite being criticized by obviously less competent sheriffs and politicians in the Wisconsin area has stood his ground and told residents, “With officers laid off and furloughed, simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option. You could beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back." He has encouraged resident to get a firearm, take a safety course and learn how to handle it "so you can defend yourself until we get there.”
“You have a duty to protect yourself and your family," he said.
With Federal agents screwing up so badly, or maybe on purpose, who knows at this point, Sheriff Clarke has good sense (notice I didn't use the word "common," because I'm concluding that common sense is pretty rare) to recognize that people not only need to defend against criminals, but they may just need to defend from their incompetent government.Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter.
