What is evident in the current run up to the 2016 elections is that Americans enjoy political theater. It is obvious that America has endured enough of the sock puppet in the White House – the hand that controls him is so obviously Mohammedan, racist, anti-American, anti-Christian, and anti-Constitution that it is a wonder that the hand in the sock thought the average American would buy his swill.
Most of the rest of Washington is not much better, just a vast marionette performance, though perhaps a little better disguised than is the sock puppet. There is a shadow government behind the scenes that has been pulling the strings for more than one hundred years in our land. Those marionettes have pranced upon the stage for our entertainment, all the while destroying our land, stealing our property, and wiping out the liberties secured by our Constitution.
Thus entered stage right, in this current season of political theater, the phenomenon that has become known as The Trump. His meteoric rise in the polls has left the professional pollsters and politicians confused. They don’t understand what is happening; they have trouble comprehending that the so-called leaders are not really leading any more, the people are not behind them. People love Trump for his uncensored mouth, his “take no prisoners” attitude, and the fact that he is stating things most politicians refuse to talk about—such as the inundation of illegals that is essentially a destruction of our country’s Sovereignty. They love him for the insults he makes of the current politicians and the media. He sits for an interview and tells the interviewer she doesn’t know what she is talking about. He rightly labels the media as a whole just a bunch of liars.
The candidates Americans admire and elect reveal something about the character of our country. Consider, if you would, the character of the sock puppet with that of Donald Trump. Now, that means, for the moment, setting aside their political differences, which are vast, and, in many ways, polar opposites. Just focus on their character for a moment. The sock puppet is arrogant beyond compare, narcissistic to the ultimate degree, and oblivious to what anyone else thinks. Trump, though in a different way, is also arrogant, brash, and unconcerned about what anyone else thinks. On the Tonight show, he was asked if he ever apologized. His response was classic Trump, “I think apologizing’s a great thing, but you have to be wrong. I will absolutely apologize, sometime in the hopefully distant future, if I’m ever wrong.” When asked if he believed in God and ever sought forgiveness, he professed he believes but has never asked for forgiveness.
What the sock puppet and Trump reveal is that arrogance will take you places in America: you can be exalted to the highest positions in the land. In the case of the puppet, your arrogance is all you have. He did nothing of any significance in College, Law School, as State Senator, as U.S. Senator, and as Resident; he only accomplished the twin actions of destroying and dividing. With Trump, there are at least business and entertainment accomplishments that accompany his arrogance. Both illustrate that America has swallowed the whole pill of the Self-Esteem movement–the claim that man’s essential problem in life is low self-esteem.
You can fix all problems if you just become very, very proud. For example, one self-esteem guru promises, “here are your three Mantras to boost your self-esteem and unleash your hidden reserves of energy and vitality into your life. With your hands on your heart, repeat these three Mantras throughout the day and feel their vibrational energy absorbing into your soul:
• I embrace my happy feelings and enjoy being content as I love and appreciate myself.
• I deserve to be happy and feel good every day about all areas in my life.
• I feel secure in who I am, and do not need to compare myself to others.”
The goal is to feel great about yourself, to love yourself, esteem yourself as more important than anyone else, to let selfishness sweep you away into an endless love affair with yourself. This is promoted as healthy for your soul—this is the cure for your psyche. Jesus has something very different to say. In the very first recorded words of His three-year ministry on earth, notice what He said was most important.
Repent and Believe – the first command of Christ, Mark 1:14-15 “Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” The most important thing is repentance and a correct belief.
