Bill de Blasio will likely look back at the 2020 election and think to himself, “what was I even thinking?”.
The unpopular mayor of New York City announced his candidacy for 2020 late, later even than Joe Biden, and he did so in front of a crowd of his fellow New Yorkers. He was then summarily and embarrassingly booed by his own constituents, presumably for taking on the futile folly while citizens of The Big Apple are still clamoring for de Blasio to actually do something, anything for the people of his city.
That’s what we in the biz call, “starting off on the wrong foot”.

Now, as de Blasio continues to poll in the low single digits, New Yorkers, not known for their patience or understanding, are growing irate.
Heck, even his own campaign staffers are sounding the alarm on what a silly idea this whole thing was.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s staffers are reportedly not taking his bid for the White House very seriously.
“It’s a joke,” one of de Blasio’s long-time aides allegedly said.
“I think that he knows that he can’t win. It’s just a lot of eye-rolling . . . He’s doing it because he’s got a big ego and needs to prove something, and I don’t think he’s going to quietly go away and become an adjunct professor at Hunter,” the staffer told the New York Post, referencing a college in Manhattan.
De Blasio came under fire in recent weeks as New York City suffered from major electrical blackouts, stemming from a massive heatwave that effected the entire northeast.
Instead of being in NYC, ready to command his authorities to restore normalcy, de Blasio was out on the campaign trail, continuing to work on the punchline to his “joke” bid for the Oval Office.
