The big, bad boogeyman of “global warming” has evolved several times over the course of the last few years, lending an air of doubt to the entire proceeding at times.
For instance, it’s no longer “global warming”, it’s “climate change”. And we don’t blame “greenhouse gasses” anymore, but “carbon emissions”. Heck, we don’t even seem to blame aerosol cans and gasoline-fueled commerce anymore, opting instead to focus on the meat industry and the methane produced by cows.
Much of the doubt that climate skeptics possess can be attributed to this wild array of ever-evolving causes and effects, with many recalling the incredibly bizarre headlines of the 1970’s declaring that fossil fuel emissions were going to usher in a new Ice Age.

Of course, this enormous variety of avenues with which to latch yourself onto the climate change bandwagon has been a Godsend for 2020 democrats, of which there are many, who all get to choose a unique angle to attack the ever-varied problem from.
For democratic socialist Bernie Sanders, that means massacring the meat industry with taxes.
At a recent campaign stop, a young woman intimated her belief that a “majority” of climate change was being caused by the meat industry, and wondered if the Vermont Senator would support a meat tax to combat the issue.
“Germany has imposed a meat tax in hopes of limiting this consumption,” she said. “What are your plans to stop these large corporations from further usurping natural resources and polluting the planet?”
While Sanders did not delve into details, he praised the woman’s questions and failed to rule out the consideration of a “meat tax” in the U.S.
“Thank you for the question, and it’s a good question. All I can say is if we believe, as I do and you do, that climate change is real, we’re gonna have to tackle it in every area, including agriculture,” Sanders said.
Americans, by nature, are a nation uncomfortable with a government who weaponizes the tax code to fix social and cultural issues, leaving Bernie Sanders likely high and dry in regard to support on this issue.
