2020 candidate smears Fox News as ‘terror seed’…in CNN op-ed

There are certainly no shortage of ways to garner attention in the media today, and blatantly attacking your political opponents as enemies of the state seems to be this week’s diss du jour.

We all understand just how hyperbolic and hysterical the mainstream media has become in the 21st century.  In their quest for ratings and revenue, these “news” outlets have turned tabloid-esque at best, and an endorser of conflict at worst.  They are a catalyst for chaos, exponentially agitating the American public into combat with one another on the grounds that we are somehow on Team A and Team B…not Team USA.

Now, one 2020 candidate has taken this conflictive creed to another level, however, singling out one side of the media narrative and using that division to demonize conservatives once again.

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke penned an op-ed Tuesday accusing conservative media outlets like Fox News and Breitbart of sowing the “seeds of terror” that result in political violence such as the El Paso mass shooting.

In a piece for CNN, the former congressman and El Paso native wrote that the “white terrorist” who allegedly sought to kill Hispanics at a local Walmart and gunned down 22 people last weekend “followed a path of vile inspiration that reaches from the darkest chapters of our history and runs directly to the White House today.”

“The seeds of terror we saw that August day are transmitted day and night on Fox News, the most watched cable news channel in the country,” Mr. O’Rourke claimed. “They are amplified by right-wing websites like Breitbart, and in messages forced onto local news broadcasts by Sinclair Media. They metastasize on Facebook. And they filter up from grotesque online havens for white supremacists who preach intolerance and worship violence.

Of course, the irony isn’t totally lost here, as Beto’s choice to publish on CNN openly and brazenly sows the seeds of division among the America people once again.  It’s as if O’Rourke wrote an op-ed vilifying Coca Cola that was published on Pepsi’s website.

We must always remember that the media wants us divided, as it pays dividends to have us at each other’s throats.
