UPDATE (3/26/2014 @ 10:22pm): We have just learned that World Vision has actually reversed its original decision on this issue. "The last couple of days have been painful," president Richard Stearns told reporters this evening. "We feel pain and a broken heart for the confusion we caused for many friends who saw this policy change as a strong reversal of World Vision's commitment to biblical authority, which it was not intended to be."

I'm baffled - and a bit angry - because this reversal forces us to ask what type of leaders are actually at the controls at World Vision? Realizing that we can all make mistakes, but this original decision to include homosexual couples who are legally (but unlawfully) "married" and who profess to be Christians was so ignorant and unbiblical that we were left to conclude that there was a huge lack of spiritual maturity and even basic level of biblical understanding to say the least!

Now, in their reversal, the president says they listened to the voice and wisdom of friends. But why were not these same people sought out when they were thinking of making the decision in the first place? Moreover, the question remains, why was the original decision even being considered at all? This is a truly serious matter here that cannot be easily overlooked. It will not be enough to say "we forgive you" and let's move on because the same leadership is still in place. They represent God on earth as His ambassadors and they need to take that seriously.

While I am very glad that the original decision was reversed, my main concern now is that the people who are in charge have no real clue if they could so easily set God's truth aside as they originally did. I'm very glad they saw the light and reversed their original decision, but I truly believe World Vision needs people in leadership positions who will not so easily misunderstand the truth of God's Word through some failed level of discernment that they seemed not to have. I'm sure they'll be hearing a great deal from the homosexual community as well. In essence, they have created a situation that may not so easily be quelled.

The original article is below.

I guess it's true. The world is coming to an end as we know it. World vision hiring homosexuals is news of the day.

The stated purpose/mission of World Vision is the following: "Our vision for every child, life in all its fullness. Our prayer for every heart, the will to make it so." The group is known for its charitable work around the globe and has done so for many years.

But now, it appears as though World Vision has taken a left turn somewhere along the lines with their new policy. They have recently "announced...that it will begin hiring married gays and lesbians at its U.S. branch, so long as they are committed followers of Jesus Christ." Come again? It seems to be a bit of an oxymoron.

While the left will shriek with delight over this new tune being played by World Vision, conservatives and authentic Christians can only cringe at the thought that homosexuals who claim to be "married" can be truly committed to Christ at all. Of course, to those who don't like what I just said, I will be seen as bigoted. I really don't care because the Bible in so many areas discusses the problem of homosexuality (including lesbianism). It is not only a reproach to God, but something that grieves Him terribly.

"World Vision U.S. President Richard Stearns told Christianity Today Monday that the move is intended to create and foster unity among believers, though he said it should not be viewed as an endorsement of same-sex marriage."

worldIt will only create "unity" among left-leaning and very liberal people who call themselves Christians. These folks tend to reinterpret Scripture to mean what it does not mean. This move will simply further divide people over the issue of homosexuality and will likely affect people who have been giving to World Vision who will now consider not giving.

"'Changing the employee conduct policy to allow someone in a same-sex marriage who is a professed believer in Jesus Christ to work for us makes our policy more consistent with our practice on other divisive issues,' Stearns said. 'It also allows us to treat all of our employees the same way: abstinence outside of marriage, and fidelity within marriage'."

Gobbledy gook. Garbage. Unscriptural. Nonsense. But this is what our society is coming into today. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 states it clearly.

"But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these."

The first chapter of Romans couldn't be anymore clear as well. Paul speaks of how people - who profess themselves wise - become fools because of their darkened hearts. Their desires turn inward and all they think about is how to satisfy those desires. As they become more inward, they push God out so that they can worship the creature. As they move along this path, their hearts become even more darkened and eventually, they wind up lowering themselves to the lowest point of all - homosexuality.

"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error."

That was Romans 1:26-27. Paul follows that up with verses 28-32:

"And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them."

Paul is clearly showing a direct connection between what a person worships and what they often become. Because people did not want to retain the knowledge of God (which is innately provided in the Creation), God eventually "throws" them over to themselves. The process of a downward spiral begins. They worship the creature - which is essentially worshiping themselves - and the lines between righteousness and sin are completely blurred. An attitude of "emotional virtue" sets in as the factor for how decisions are then made (If it feels good, it can't be wrong, etc.).

Finally, people who reject God and make their own rules eventually come to the point of justifying any behavior in which they experiment. Those who are tempted to experiment with homosexuality do so, but it doesn't end there either. The above verses tell us what type of person that individual actually becomes and it's not pretty.

Homosexuals - like anyone - can project a mature, responsible, and even Christian demeanor. That, however, does not make it so. Read books by Joe Dallas for an inside look at someone who was involved in the homosexual community for years before becoming a Christian. It's all about sex, not marriage and "stability"; Just sex, as many times as possible with as many partners as possible.

Ultimately, the goal of sodomite activists is not to make same-sex unions legal in all states of the U.S. The ultimate goal is to eliminate marriage altogether. That can only be accomplished when same-sex unions are the norm.

What World Vision has done here is wrong. It grieves the Lord. It's tragic, but not unexpected based on Paul's words in Scripture. When Jesus physically returns, He will right all wrongs and deal with all sin. That day cannot come soon enough!
