White House Deputy Chief of Staff Katie Walsh has been identified by reporter Charles Johnson as the source of the leaks coming out of the Trump administration.
White House Deputy Chief of Staff and #NeverTrump Republican Katie Walsh has been identified as the source behind a bunch of leaks from the Trump administration to The New York Times and other media outlets, according to multiple sources in the White House, media, donor community, and pro-Trump 501(c)4 political group.
“Everyone knows not to talk to her in the White House unless you want to see it in the press,” says a source close to the president. “The only question is whether or not she’s doing it at the behest of [White House Chief of Staff] Reince Priebus or if she’s doing it to advance herself in DC media circles.”
One source in particular stands out: Walsh is close to Maggie Haberman, a New York Times reporter who wrote fawning pro-Republican National Committee stories during the presidential election. Walsh has also planted stories in The Washington Post and Politico.
Walsh is referred to as “Madame President” in the White House, says a senior aide. “It isn’t a compliment.”
Another source close to Trump's family said, “The president and his allies have been deliberately feeding her fake information in order to find her network. It’s been going well.”
That's exactly what you want to do if you suspect there is a mole. Give that information only to them and let them out themselves.
Ms. Walsh was a #NeverTrump Republican during the campaign.
Looks like there is going to be an investigation into Ms. Walsh by the White House, since this is exactly what Trump called for in his press conference last week. However, there are plenty of people in the Trump administration who didn't really give him any support when he ran for office, but seem all too happy to take up positions in the administration, and White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus was one of them.
Priebus is also suspect since he is over Ms. Walsh and is the only cabinet member who has not had any negative leaks put out about him. Keep that in mind as we move forward.
This follows a report that The House Intelligence Chair, Devin Nunes, claims that there are no Obama-era people inside the Trump administration leaking information.
Additionally, you'll recall that the Podesta emails leaked last summer exposed Maggie Habberman, who is currently being investigated for colluding with Katie Walsh.
