The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) met last week for a session in Geneva. Before discussing the UNHRC, I'm going to rant for a bit about the United Nations in general.

Can we, once and for all, just dissolve the United Nations? They have proven time after time that they are no friend of the United States and certainly the enemy of our only true ally in the Middle East, Israel.

Over the years, we've paid the majority of the dues and the UN building itself sits upon some of the world's most prized real estate.

Yet, this odd collection of nanny socialists and despots continually blame us, and especially Israel, for most of the world's problems.

We invite them all into our country, extend them every deference, and they repay us by dumping on our country and our ally. It's like paying the schoolyard bully to beat on you.

However, as bad as they treat us, it's nothing compared to how they treat Israel.

I frankly haven't seen a larger collection of anti-Semites in one place since the fall of Nazi Germany.

The worst of the offenders are those in the UNHRC.

Now, if you've been a regular reader of mine, you'll know I am a staunch supporter of Israel. You would also know that I believe the "Middle East peace process" is a joke. Put simply, there will never be lasting peace in that region as long as one side wishes to exterminate the other.

It's gotten so bad, so anti-Israel, that one of the agenda items at this latest meeting, was a mandate that Israel must be debated at every session. Israel is the only country with this standing agenda mandate; Not Iran, North Korea, Syria, Egypt, Russia or Turkey. No – only Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said of the Council, "This march of hypocrisy is continuing, and we will continue to condemn it and expose it. The UN Human Rights Council condemned Israel five times; this at a time when the slaughter in Syria is continuing, innocent people are being hung in the Middle East, and human rights are being eroded."

Last week's meeting netted 42 resolutions on human rights issues. Out of these 42, 10 censures were handed down to specific countries, and five of those 10 censures were leveled against Israel. Sounds fair.

By contrast, real human rights violators like North Korea, Syria and Iran drew tepid support with a dozen or more abstentions in each case.

How could any reasonable country abstain from voting for a condemnation of such evil as is currently going on in these countries?

Well, that's easy, if you look at some of the members of the Human Rights Council. Here are a few of the human rights standouts: Venezuela, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Pakistan, Kuwait, Cuba and China.

Yes, some of the biggest abusers of human rights are members of the Human Rights Council. It's bizarro world.

So I'll ask again. What the heck do we get from the UN except the abuse of our country and our ally? Answer – nothing.

It is truly an upside down world we live in these days.
