Today, Americans live in a time of uncertainty that is unlike any other since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Most people see a time that has abandoned morality and virtue, is plagued by confusion and disorder, and is lacking in reason and hope. There is dissolution of the very rules and principles that have traditionally guided us. Truth has been transformed into vague philosophies, seducing to the eyes of the beholder, a choice that "progressive" thinkers suggest we can choose without apparent consequences. An elite intelligentsia posture that traditional sources of education and understanding are obsolete. They would have us think their New World Order wipes away traditional truth and insists we surrender to the whims of these men.

There is a foundation that argues against the symptoms of today. Our Founding Fathers began The Declaration of Independence with examination of the absolute truths in the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God. They recognized these Laws were the source of the highest principles of government and provided the standard by which all other law must be measured. The individual was created as a sovereign being by God. To live in liberty, the individual was given responsibility to exercise sovereignty over civil government. Checks and balances were built into the Constitution as protections necessary since the Founders recognized the fallen nature of man. In establishing a Republic, the Constitution requires a limited government with certain enumerated powers and protection of the people's sovereignty. The Constitution provided the supreme Law of the Land necessary for peace and order and included safeguards to avoid confusion and disorder. The uncertainty and disorder of today has resulted from efforts to transform America into a democracy, a common part of other forms of government.

Other government forms including socialism, communism, dictatorships, and oligarchies ignore the individual as unimportant. Their tyranny demands collective obedience with overwhelming rule and control. While they claim what is best for the common good of people, history records their plans always result in complete destruction with a loss of morality and virtue, growth of unlimited government and arbitrary rule of law by the whims of men. The title of this column, "If My People," suggests an option exists that enables people to return to a better way!

The Declaration of Independence provides an important pointer. It states, "All men are created equal, endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights that include life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." The Declaration recognizes truths that are self-evident, in other words, absolutely true. The ramblings of the elite are exposed as careless lies! We know the Laws of Nature and Nature's God cannot be changed, are eternal. They point to the only One that will call us "His People" in a most personal way. The revelation rushes in for us to proclaim the absolute truth. The God of the Bible speaks in II Chronicles 7:14, "If my people that are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land"! Restoration is conditional, but most reasonable!
