I missed the news on Monday and didn't actually find out until late Monday night that the Congressional Black Caucus had recommended Sheila Jackson Lee to replace Janet Napolitano as Homeland Security Secretary. The Daily Caller reports:
The Congressional Black Caucus wants Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas to be the next Secretary of Homeland Security, now that former Sec. Janet Napolitano has resigned to become president of the University of California System.
The Houston Chronicle reported that CBC Chairwoman Marcia Fudge sent a letter to President Barack Obama last week to "encourage [him] to strongly consider" Jackson Lee for the Cabinet post.
Let's keep this in perspective because a suggestion from the Black Caucus does not mean a nomination is forthcoming, but, if it does, it has implications far beyond what most people might have considered. Sheila Jackson Lee is a Tea Party hater and has gone so far to compare the movement to the KKK.
This is crucial knowledge because we will now see how far this administration is willing to go to keep targeting conservatives. We have been talking for months about how terrorists are no longer considered to be Islamic extremists. Potential terrorists are now being profiled as God and Constitution-loving Americans who believe in the 2nd Amendment. We have reviewed training videos and documents that have stated as much.
So if Sheila Jackson Lee gets nominated I think it sends a message. If she gets confirmed it sends an even louder message. I have felt for a long time that they were trying to bait us into starting a war. It is my opinion that Obama wants that war much worse than the Patriots that reside all over this great nation. We don't want violence. We simply want The Constitution to mean something.
Back to Sheila Jackson Lee and her biases because my opinions are just opinions. Here are some facts. At a 2010 NAACP Convention she compared the Tea Party to the KKK. I don't think she would have much problem in writing policies and making orders to target conservatives. Here is the video:
That is the only video I could find and it was obviously made by someone who didn't feel the need to include the full context. It was probably made by a Jackson Lee fan. Why? Because it cut off the worst of the comments. You probably caught the word "sheets" at the very beginning. Here is what Sheila Jackson Lee actually said with the KKK stuff not omitted. From The Atlantic:
And I thank you professor very much. I'm going to be engaging you with those very powerful numbers that you have offered on what the tea party recognizes, uh, or is recognized as. Might I add my own P.S.? All those who wore sheets a long time ago have now lifted them off and started wearing [applause], uh, clothing, uh, with a name, say, I am part of the tea party. Don't you be fooled. [voices: "That's right.", applause] Those who used to wear sheets are now being able to walk down the aisle and speak as a patriot because you will not speak loudly about the lack of integrity of this movement. Don't let anybody tell you that those who spit on us as we were walking to vote on a health care bill for all of America or those who said Congresswoman Jackson-Lee's braids were too tight in her hair had anything to do with justice and equality and empowerment of the American people. Don't let them fool you on that [applause]….
See how the video was edited to make her look a little less like a race baiter?
It's a fact of life that you can spot the biggest racists easily by how often they choose to play the race card. Racists don't generally understand that we don't care what color they are. They think that everyone thinks just like they think. I would have a hard time saying one positive thing about Sheila Jackson Lee but it has nothing to do with the color of her skin. It's because she is a moron. Here is another YouTube video I found. This gentleman gives most of the dirt on Sheila but not all. I will get to more in a moment.
I wrote an article about Sheila Jackson Lee and her possible ties to Eric Holder and the IRS scandal a while back, here is a quote from that article:
Let us revisit some of Congresswoman Lee's most shining moments.
She is believed to have used taxpayer funds to make a trip to speak at Michael Jackson's memorial service.
She brought the issue of Rush Limbaugh's attempt to become an NFL owner to the House Floor.
In 1996 she set up a phony interview with "fake" callers who were following a script and acting like "concerned citizens."
The woman used North and South Vietnam as an example of how neighboring countries can live in harmony. Evidently she does not realize that North Vietnam took over South Vietnam after we withdrew and is now one country.
At an NAACP event she accused Tea Party members of being modern day members of the Ku Klux Klan.
She noted that Republicans refused to raise the debt ceiling because Obama is black.
Sheila Jackson Lee is certainly not someone who should be speaking of integrity in any form and not someone that Eric Holder should be listening to.
This woman does not have the track record to replace Big Sis Napolitano and it has nothing to do with her skin tone. It has everything to do with her being a hot-headed bigot who is likely to bring even more targeting upon a group of people simply because of our political persuasions.
Watch this story closely because I truly believe that, if she is ultimately chosen then, it is all about sending a message. I am putting the cart way before the horse but when I heard her name I was shocked. They keep pushing the envelope and they may not stop. It takes a lot for these people to shock me lately but she would have been the last logical choice for this job. She is a very loose cannon.
My belief is that this is another line that they cannot cross. If they choose to cross it then you had better be very ready.
They know exactly what they are doing.
For what it's worth I have a lot of good friends in the Tea Party who are not white. I even belong to a couple of groups on Facebook that are specifically for minority Tea Party members. I sincerely doubt they are wearing hoods and burning crosses.
You can say what you want about me but how can you even infer that a Black American is comparable to the KKK simply because they call themselves a Patriot?
Race baiters don't have to make sense. Their only job is to make us angry so that we remain divided. This woman is so wrong for this job.
