It is expected that, today, there will be an announcement that 13 Sandy Hook victims' families will be suing Bushmaster, the maker of the gun that was allegedly used by Adam Lanza in the Sandy Hook massacre of December 14, 2012.

I have previously reported on the oddity that there were no active Sandy Hook victim's lawsuits, though it seems that claim is no longer true.

Rob Crilly reports:

Parents of some of the 20 children killed two years ago in the Sandy Hook school massacre will announce on Monday that they are suing Bushmaster, the company that manufactured the rifle used by Adam Lanza in the attack.

They are working with an attorney who represented Michael Jackson's family in a $1.5bn (£950 million) wrongful death lawsuit against his international concert promoter, according to The Guardian.

Families of at least 13 of the children are thought to be involved and are working with Michael Koskoff, a partner in the Connecticut law firm Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder.

None of the parties involved would comment on the plans.

Karen Hinton, a Democratic lobbyist who worked in the Clinton administration, and has joined the action, said: "There will be an announcement on Monday."

Clinton administration? How convenient.

With all due respect to anyone who may have lost a loved one in this tragedy, Sandy Hook continues to be used as a political tool for more gun control.

As Joe the Plumber once said, "As harsh as this sounds — your dead kids don't trump my constitutional rights." Joe was right on both counts. It does sound very harsh but it is also very true.

Some two years after the massacre, we are once again seeing Sandy Hook used as an excuse to attack the gun industry and, ultimately, the second amendment.

Why go after the maker of a gun which obviously has no way of firing itself?

Do guns kill people?

Or do shooters like Adam Lanza kill people?

Why not attempt to sue Peter Lanza, the alleged shooter's father, who is reportedly worth millions?

Why not sue the school district?

Why is this tragedy all about the gun that was allegedly used?

Bad things happen.

People die.

The fact that Sandy Hook has been so widely publicized by the gun control lobby and that there has been so little transparency about how the events unfolded tends to throw fuel on the fire for those of us who think that this tragedy did not happen as we have been told, if it happened at all.

The good news for liberty lovers is that, despite the best efforts of the leftist gun lobby, Americans now favor a more strict constitutional view of the 2nd amendment rather than more gun control for the first time in over two decades.
