The 40th anniversary was on the 24th of May 2013.

The following video is a composite of video clips of then and now and runs for nearly twelve minutes; U.S. Army Special Forces Captain Floyd J. Thompson spent ten days shy of NINE (9) YEARS as a POW.

I will admit that thus far I have been unable to watch it all the way through; it is just plain far too painful to me.

We Vietnam Vets are dying off like a once proud rose garden in a Mojave Desert drought.

We once stood proud of our service to country and now, like every group of veterans before us, we are being pushed out of sight and out of mind by the next generations of those who continue to give so much in defense of the ideals that allowed this once great nation to be born and thrive.

Many of us Vietnam veterans carry an irreconcilable debt to those who did not come home; those MIA and POW whose families will never be able to achieve closure.

I chose to share this video as a form of homage to those men and women who have chosen throughout history and continue to choose into the present to serve their country proudly.

May God Bless the members of our military and their families and may God Bless America.

Editor's Note: I will always have a special place in my heart and gratitude, honor and respect for those who have worn the uniform of the United States military, especially these men, many of who were cast into a foreign jungle, torn from their families and managed to muster the courage to fight against communism, facing torture unimaginable and yet return with honor. Many of their brothers did not. To all those who have served and are serving, thank you.
