Get your kicks on Route 66! At least someone has gotten their kicks there. A short space away from Route 66 in Tucumcari, New Mexico, there's a sign that's causing quite the controversy. It sits atop an outhouse and reads "Obama's Presidential Library."
Some in town say it's in bad taste, while others support it. Either way, everyone knows about it. One man said people have been treating it like a tourist destination, taking pictures all the time.
As for the man who put it up, he refused to give Target 7 his name or reveal what prompted him to construct the controversial commode, but he said he has no intention of taking it down.
"It's like watching TV. If you don't like what the hell you're watching, turn the channel," said the man who put up the sign. "I'm not even certain he even deserves that level of respect, but that's my opinion."
According to the owner, both the sign and outhouse have been up for weeks, if not months.
"That's my opinion ... and fortunately, that's one thing they haven't taken away from us ... is our right to our opinion," said the man who constructed the sign.
Apparently the city manager Doug Powers doesn't know that anything is wrong with the sign. He did say he would go to see if it violated any city codes.
Fortunately, Mr. Powers was clear that the city doesn't have control over what people say. I'm glad to hear that.
This isn't the first time such an outhouse has been labeled "Obama's Presidential Library." Back in 2012 the Montana state Republican convention featured an outhouse labeled "Obama's Presidential Library," and even was painted to resemble having bullet holes in it. It also came complete with a fake birth certificate (still wondering if there is a real one) inside it.
As for the outhouse, I think this is a proper place to make use of some of those books that Barack Obama cherishes, such as Rules for Radicals, some of those training manuals his administration has been manufacturing, Dreams from my Father, Audacity of Hope, and the Qur'an. Of course, I'm not referencing reading these materials, but am glad to see someone has a sense of humor, and it makes a terrific point.
After all, with all of the crap this administration has put out, I think we need a place to dump it, though in a similar fashion to Roy Scheider in JAWS, "You're gonna need a bigger can."Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter.
