Last night's acceptance speech by Barack Obama at the Democrat National Convention was less than stimulating. In fact, it was full of lies, but the lies had already been pushed upon the crowd of Democrats as they sat and listened to the other speakers of the evening. Even just before Obama took to the stage the lies were being communicated as an introductory video claimed that he was roused to action by "watching (his) mother die."s

Joel Pollack writes,

Obama, while very emotive about his mother, neglected to visit her before she died of cancer--a mistake he admitted and regretted. Yet he has repeatedly lied about her in his speeches, including the lie that she died without health insurance.

Obama began by pushing forward the revision of history that "“by 2008 we had seen nearly a decade in which families struggled with costs that kept rising but paychecks that didn’t.” That actually is not true. Up until the last few months of 2008, Americans were enjoying great prosperity and low unemployment.

He also claimed that he has "cut taxes for those who need it." The problem here is that he has already begun to raise them immediately as Obamacare was put into place. Many in this audience have seen that just in the taxes they filed this year. Just wait till you have to file them for 2012!

Obama also continued to talk about the already debunked issue of global warming as he said, "my plan will continue to reduce the carbon pollution that is heating our planet – because climate change is not a hoax. More droughts and floods and wildfires are not a joke. They're a threat to our children's future." Oh the doom and gloom that Obama has to deal with! And just how will he be dealing with it? I would imagine it will be by bowing to the will of the United Nations and its Agenda 21 policies.

He spoke of education and said, "For the first time in a generation, nearly every state has answered our call to raise their standards for teaching and learning. Some of the worst schools in the country have made real gains in math and reading. Millions of students are paying less for college today because we finally took on a system that wasted billions of taxpayer dollars on banks and lenders."

"And now you have a choice – we can gut education, or we can decide that in the United States of America, no child should have her dreams deferred because of a crowded classroom or a crumbling school," Obama continued. "No family should have to set aside a college acceptance letter because they don't have the money."

The truth is no one is "gutting" anything, including education money. We are throwing more money at education they we have in our entire history and yet literacy in the country continues on a downward path. The reality is that there is something else needed and it isn't more money or a Department of Education at the federal level. It is more like keeping money at home and having education closer to home. In fact, the best results are brought about in the home.

Obama believes government has a role in education. I disagree. Parents have a role in education. They are the ones responsible for the education of their children. Some of the greatest minds that have come from our nation did so without government. In fact, for many of them, they taught themselves by simply reading and thinking.

Though he claimed to have " worked with Republicans in Congress to cut $1 trillion in spending," that was little more than rhetoric, because spending have been more than $1 trillion in deficit spending since the man took office. There have been no actual cuts in spending.

Obama barely mentioned his signature piece of legislation, Obamacare, and jobs were hardly mentioned either. what was interesting is that when he did mention Obamacare he took a shot at his opponents and claimed they wanted to "eliminate health insurance for millions of Americans who are poor, elderly, or disabled--all so those with the most can pay less.” I can tell you that health care will not be eliminated by repealing Obamacare. That is just a baseless lie.

While he claims "We don't think government can solve all our problems," it sure seems as though he wants government to be involved in every aspect of life from buying a gun, to watching our internet activity, to taxing us for everything under the sun, including proposals to tax our carbon footprint! He believes government should be involved in education, transportation, feeling you up or perving your body when you fly in an airplane, auto manufacturing (manufacturing in general), health care and pretty much anything else you can think of. Think about an area that government isn't sticking it's nose into people's business.

He did try to make up for the "you didn't build that" gaffe in which he told his audience that the change that had occurred during his presidency was a result of them. "You did that," he said.

Change will happen no matter who is in the White House. It is just the nature of things. The only difference is that a person either believes that change comes by the state or by the individual.

He then then tried to cite Jeremiah 29:11, claiming a promise of a "future filled with hope" and yet he didn't deal with the context of the passage which speaks against false prophets.

While the speech was riddled with falsehoods, the speech was nothing like his past speeches. In fact, many have said that he has not given a good speech in a long time. Charles Krauthammer even said “He gave one of the emptiest speeches I’ve ever heard on a national stage.”

Even the poll numbers today don't provide a serious bump for Obama. Romney did better with a nominal bump, but even that kept the numbers well within the margin of error. Gallop has Obama at 48% and Romney at 45%, which Rasmussen shows Romney with 46% and Obama with 45%.
