With all the hot air coming from the White House, one would think it would be enough to power the entire structure and keep the environmental, coal-hating Left happy. But, since all that hot air is wasted and Obama promised to "green his residence," the historic White House will now be outfitted, again, with solar panels made by an unnamed American manufacturer.

According to an anonymous White House official, "The White House has begun installing American-made solar panels on the first family's residence as part of an energy retrofit that will improve the overall energy efficiency of the building. The retrofit will include the installation of energy-saving equipment, such as updated building controls and variable speed fans, as well as solar generation. The project will help demonstrate that historic buildings can incorporate solar energy and energy efficient upgrades."

The cost of this "greening" of the White House that will be billed to the American tax-payer has not been disclosed.

First of all, it is obnoxiously offensive for Obama to refer to the White House as his residence. The White House is owned by the American tax-payer and was built to provide a secure living and working environment for the President, his family and others connected with the office. Obama's residence is in Chicago.

Naturally, the environmentalist are thrilled since the President is fulfilling his promise and billing it all to the tax-payers; however, they have criticized the President for taking so long.

According to the Daily Caller:

"Better late than never – in truth, no one should ever have taken down the panels Jimmy Carter put on the roof way back in 1979," said Bill McKiben of 350.org. "But it's very good to know that once again the country's most powerful address will be drawing some of that power from the sun."

In 2009, Obama promised to improve the energy efficiency of federal buildings and increase the use of renewable energy at federal facilities, and the next year, he promised to install solar panels on the White House.

When Obama made his 2010 promise, then-Energy Secretary Steven Chu and White House chief energy adviser Nancy Sutley said would purchase between 20 and 50 solar panels.

Obama will be the third president to "green" the White House, as Jimmy Carter first installed solar panels up in 1979, but they were removed under President Reagan in 1986. President George W. Bush installed a solar system on a maintenance shed on White House grounds.

Obama is so concerned about global warming and using renewable energy that he had a Marine Osprey helicopter fly the "first dog" solo to Martha's Vineyard to join the family on vacation. Does the environmental group not see this hypocritical two-faced clown as a "wannabe" king who is only interested in keeping power by any means necessary?

McKibben thinks the Carter solar panels should not have been removed; but, he has not considered why they were removed nor does he truly care. As it turns out, the solar panels were not efficient and were removed during maintenance on the White House roof. Reagan never ordered the panels to be reinstalled.

The company who is to supply these solar panels for the "country's most powerful address" has not been named. If any American can see the writing on the wall, the company is certain to be an avid Obama supporter, probably receive tax-payer funds in subsidies, bail out or stimulus, and quote a price sure to make the owner rich and the government more in debt. After all, many a millionaire has been made on a government contract.

For an average home owner, installing "green" or energy-saving equipment, such as solar panels, allows for a tax credit or savings. Since Obama considers the White House his residence, one could assume he intends to take that credit on his taxes if he files any at all. It would be another way to fleece hard working Americans; tax-payers funded the retrofit, but he would get the tax credit. This would not surprise many Americans if this came to fruition. Unfortunately, the tax savings can be quickly eaten up and exceeded with maintenance, parts and labor of that energy-saving equipment.

Once this "homeowner" project is complete, can the American public expect to be fleeced for retrofitting federal buildings and facilities with "green" energy technology without any report on implementation versus cost savings?

There will be no report forthcoming as the cost savings return on solar panels compared to the installation costs, parts, maintenance and batteries to store that energy makes it more expensive than electricity from the conventional power grid. You can bet the company supplying the parts, maintenance and labor involved with the solar panels will make it even more expensive since it is an opportunity cash cow. One could speculate to say that a return on that investment won't be seen before our great-grandchildren have lived and died.

Maybe Obama should take his fleecing of the American tax-payers disguised as "green" energy efficient retrofitting of the White House and stick it where the sun don't shine.
