The Obama administration promotes segregation by providing students with a teacher of the same race. This would be accomplished through federalization of teacher-preparation programs. Funding for college teacher-preparation programs would be given to colleges seeking students from minority groups. College scholarship programs will be designed to encourage minorities to enter the teaching profession. The Obama administration indicates that the educational system will be significantly improved and transformed when teachers are members of a minority.

Our Future, Our Teachers
is the current policy proposed by U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan. Duncan explains that transforming education to deliver an excellent education for every child will occur once 1.6 million current teachers retire so a new teaching workforce can be developed which "reflects the diversity of our students." Duncan is concerned that "a student body that is increasingly black or Hispanic being taught by a teaching force that remains predominantly white" is a detriment to student learning.

This statement implies that black and Hispanic students cannot learn from a white teacher. It also implies that white children excel because the teaching profession is predominantly white. Therefore, white students must have a white teacher, black students must have a black teacher, and Hispanic students must have a Hispanic teacher, if the child is going to excel academically. Apparently, the Obama administration thinks Brown vs The Board of Education
has
failed. Instead of discovering reasons for failure, the administration is taking the lazy way out and returning to old policies which also failed. This happens when schools neglect to teach fact-based history.

Money will be provided to historically black and other minority universities that prepare students for teaching. The "Presidential Teaching Fellows" program claims that to "…create conditions for reform for all programs and students in a state, targeted investments are also necessary." Those targeted investments are identified as finding and supporting future teachers who are African-American or Hispanic.

To fund this project, the Obama administration will strip $110 million dollars from the successful TEACH grant program and $75 million from other funding sources to create a $185 million for a program called "Presidential Teaching Fellows." These dollars will also be used to provide opportunities for "the best students with a priority on those with financial need."

These competitive grants sought from Augustus F. Hawkins Centers of Excellence will be used to partnership with non-profit organizations which demonstrate effectiveness in preparing and placing high-quality candidates. Eligible institutions which were identified as examples included but are not limited to: Historically Black Colleges or Universities, Historically Black Graduate Institutions, Hispanic-serving Institutions, Tribal Colleges or Universities, Alaska Native-serving Institutions, Native Hawaiian-serving Institutions, Predominantly Black Institutions, Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-serving Institutions, and Native American-serving Nontribal Institutions with a qualified teacher-preparation program. Awards can be expected to average $2 million per year.

Implementation of Our Future, Our Teachers will return the segregated educational system that existed before the Brown vs Board of Education Supreme Court ruling. The millions of tax dollars spent to desegregate schools and to provide equal access to equal education will have been wasted dollars.

Respect for diversity, another progressive ideology, will be lost. Students will be taught that only people of their own race will provide the support they need. Segregation and racism will have been revived.
