The National Rifle Association released a video today titled We Are America. The message is simple and reminds Americans that Washington doesn't give us rights, but we are the ones that grant them power.

The video begins with footage of the Capitol and opens by mentioning a recent closed door speech to donors, politicians and media made by Bill Clinton, who said of American gun owners:

"A lot of these people...all they've got is their hunting and their fishing or they've been listening to this stuff for so long that they believe it all."

Then we are reminded of Barack Obama stating to a room full of San Francisco elites in 2008:

“And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion."

"The arrogance of their superiority requires this reminder," the narrator announced. "They don't rule us. They don't give us rights. We grant them power."

"They don't make us safe," the video continues as a family is shown together at night in their home. "We pay to protect them," is declared as a presidential motorcade moves across the screen.

"They don't make us free. We're free already."

The video goes on to state that "As long as we have the Second Amendment, we always will be."

"We are America and our politicians are only as powerful as "We the People" allow them to be," the video concludes.

There is no doubt in my mind that we have afforded our elected representatives in Washington far too much power. I say, it's time to rein that power back in to only the enumerated powers found in the Constitution and begin dealing harshly with those who seek to violate them. The Second Amendment would help us ensure that we keep representatives in line, rather than allowing them the upper hand over those they serve, which is you and me.
