French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen  spoke out at a town hall meeting in La Bazoche-Gouet on Monday and said that she would not ask the French people to get used to terrorism, but instead said, "I will bring Islamist fundamentalism to its knees!"

Le Pen's words came as she criticized her rival, Emmanuel Macron,  who is a globalist.

“The other candidates are only in big cities,” she said . “I have been meeting in small villages and meeting French people who have never seen a candidate come to see them. It is my place, I am here among the French people who I want to defend.”

She also tweeted out (Google translate), "In the name of which we would not have the right to protect ourselves against social dumping and unfair competition."

She then spoke on issues of security, which is where she made her statement regarding Islam.

“On security, it will be zero tolerance,” she said. “I will never ask the French to get used to terrorism. I will  bring Islamist fundamentalism to its knees!”

Le Pen, taking a page from President Donald Trump's "America First" playbook, said: “With me at the head of the State, never will a stowaway be treated better than a Frenchman in his own country.”

She also took time to tweet out a jab at her opponent in response to his attack on her in Marseilles on Saturday, as he spoke to people in a crime-riddled city whose population is 30-40 percent Muslim.

“Let us drive away from this campaign, far from the country, the party of hatred, that of contempt, of the withdrawal, and all of those who make us so ashamed," said Macron, clearly demonstrating he is a traitor to France.

"I can no longer bear to hear #Macron insult France, say he wants to 'chase' you, patriots of France," Le Pen tweeted.

“We do not insult the people like that, Mr. Macron,” said Le Pen.  “We are at home.”

“How can Mr. Macron make such abject remarks towards the patriots and lovers of France that you are, that we are," she added.  "He has insulted France by saying that she has committed a crime against humanity in Algeria.”

It's easy when you understand the ideology.  He is doing it to stir up the enemies of France against the people.  He should be dealt with as an insurrectionist.

“Patriotism is not a dead idea,” she continued. “On the contrary, it is the crucible of our future, of our dreams.”

While I appreciate Ms. Le Pen's boldness here, I wonder how that works with what she said in October 2016 when she promised to ban all religious clothing, including Christian symbols in an attempt to defeat Islam.

Le Pen sees the problem rightly.  The question is, do you really think you will defeat Islam with secularism?  I think not.  In fact, when she made the promise of the ban, I wrote:

France has had a long history of Christian thought in its civil government. Both Roman Catholic and Protestant theology has influenced the nation's governing. Prior to the French Revolution in the 18th century, France recognized Roman Catholicism as its state religion. This was opposed by French Calvinist Christians, who were known as Huguenots. Of course, the Catholics were most famous for their persecution of Christians, particularly the Huguenots, at the time, specifically the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre in 1572. Estimates of the dead range from 2,000 by a Roman Catholic apologist to 70,000 by a contemporary Huguenot of the time duc de Sully, who barely escaped death.

One of the things France had to grapple with at the time of the French Revolution was the rejection of God and anything that was biblically taught, such as a 7 day week. They learned quickly they could not function in such a manner.

So, knowing that France had once benefitted from Christian thought and God's law in her history, even though some of those entrusted with it became tyrants, why would she give up that heritage in order to "defeat Islam." That makes absolutely no sense. In fact, it's surrender to the demonic doctrines of Muhammad.

No, the way to defeat Islam is with a superior Gospel, and the Christian message is just that. The Law of God in the Bible is superior to that of the Koran. The message that has a distant non-caring, non-loving nor a truly merciful God who forgives sinners is one that can be found in the texts of the Koran. However, though the Bible presents to us a holy and just God, it also presents us with His longsuffering, patience and compassion. In fact, if there was ever a question that the Creator loved men, it was in the demonstration He showed by clothing His Only Son in flesh and that Son dying in the place of those who had violated the law. As the apostle Paul writes:

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. –Romans 5:8

So, my response to Ms. Le Pen would be to reject outright the notion that you defeat the anti-christ ideology of Islam by banning the expression of Christianity in the public square. Instead, spread the message of God's law and the presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout all of France and trust that God would work in the hearts of the people. I say that not only for France, but in every nation of the world so that all might submit to the lordship of King Jesus.

Ms. Le Pen has been very up front against the invasion of Islam into the West and the media.  She rightly sees the problem, but I fear she has the wrong solution.  I just wish she provided a biblical answer to the situation France finds itself in.  So, far I've not seen that be articulated.
