The upheaval in Baltimore continues. Reports are that the "protests" are going to expand to Boston, and possibly nationwide. Although news reports claim that most of the violence and looting occurred as a result of "locals," it also appears that outside agitators are either directly involved or fanning the flames of blacks versus police hatreds.
This, of course, stems from the death of Freddie Carlos Gray, Jr., who apparently died of a spinal injury while in police custody following an arrest on drug charges.
So what do we know about this situation revolving around the death of Mr. Gray? The fact is that we know virtually nothing of the circumstances of his death. As of now, there is nothing but rumors - certainly not enough to riot over.
But that never matters when a black man is the "supposed" victim. And he may very well be—I don't know, nor does anyone else.
What we do know is that Freddie Gray, Jr., was a dirtbag who had been arrested 18 times between 2007 and 2015. To be more accurate, he was arrested 18 times between 2007 and 2009 - then again between 2012 and 2015.
There was a hiatus from arrest from 2009 to 2012, which coincides with a sentencing of 4 years in the slammer in April 2009 from an arrest on multiple drug charges in July 2008 (case number: 108213015).
From the timeline I've constructed, he must've been released in early 2012, for his next arrest was April 2012.
Now for the spinal injury. There are rumors floating around that Gray had suffered a spinal/neck injury and had spinal surgery just weeks prior to his last drug arrest in March 2015.
The rumors persist due to a court record of Gray attempting to convert a structured insurance settlement paid to him by Allstate insurance company, which he was trying to convert to a lump sum payment facilitated through Peachtree Settlement Funding LLC (case number: 13C14101574). But the court briefing does not disclose the amount, nor does it disclose why Allstate was paying Gray. We do know that he never received the lump sum settlement prior to his death due to the fact that the case was dismissed because Gray failed to appear.
Some have reported that the injury was from a car accident and that Gray had already been through a few unsuccessful spinal surgeries and that the last one, just weeks prior to his last arrest was to attempt to fuse his spinal column.
Yet, other reports are that he and his sister were receiving payments from a lead paint ingestion lawsuit when they were children. So, in other words, who knows?
And that's the whole point - no one knows. Not the idiot protesters, nor the people rushing out to defend the police.
What is known is that Freddie Carlos Gray Jr. was a dirtbag narcotics manufacturer and distributor. We also know that the cops in question have no prior record of police abuse. And that's it. Other than that, everything we've heard is just guessing and rumor - certainly not enough to riot over.
I hope and assume that we will get the real story eventually, but I doubt it will matter - just as it didn't matter in Ferguson or New York City.Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter. You can also get Freedom Outpost delivered to your Amazon Kindle device here.
