On Sunday, Afghan villagers discovered the bodies of six government contractors that had been beheaded in the southern part of the country. The contractors were the apparent victims of Islamic jihadists.

"So when you meet those who disbelieve, strike their necks..." -- Qur'an 47:4

The Associated Press reports:

src.adapt.480.lowKandahar police spokesman Ahmed Durrani said villagers found the bodies. He said the men were involved in building police compounds and checkpoints in Kandahar, the birthplace of the Taliban.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. The Taliban have previously targeted contractors, warning Afghans against working for the government.

The Taliban did, however, take credit for the blast Saturday outside the huge tent where the Loya Jirga consultative forum is to be held later this week in Kabul. Thousands of prominent Afghans are scheduled to meet there to debate a contentious security agreement with the United States.

Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch writes, "These government contractors were almost certainly Muslims, but by working for the Karzai government, which is a creation of the Infidel Americans, they rendered themselves disbelievers in the eyes of their killers, and thus lawfully to be beheaded."

I think Spencer is right on target. As David Wood has pointed out, to Islamists, the US is "making mischief" in their land, and Muslims who help the "infidels" are just as worthy of death as the infidels themselves.

Just prior to the blast on Saturday, Afghan President Hamid Karzai announced that US and Afghan negotiators had completed a final draft of the Bilateral Security Agreement.

If approved, the agreement would allow US troops to remain in Afghanistan following the final withdrawal of combat forces in 2014.

Personally, I think this is indicative of American foreign policy as it has no end goal, except to push "democracy" in the Middle East. Instead of dealing with the root, which is Islam, we think that coming in and providing democratic elections will change things. It doesn't. Anyone want to guess why? It's because the people adhere to Islam. Therefore, they will elect Islamists. George W. Bush wouldn't call Islam the enemy, and no one expects Barack Obama to call it an enemy.

History teaches us that not dealing with the spiritual rehabilitation of a nation really does not help that nation. Take General Douglas MacArthur's call for Christian missionaries to go to Japan following World War II. He said,

"The problem basically is theological and involves a spiritual recrudescence and improvement of human character." -- "Message to the American People Concerning Surrender," Douglas MacArthur, Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers (SCAP), Tokyo, September 2, 1945

MacArthur went on to say that the new revolution in international affairs "must be of the spirit if we are to save the flesh."

"I am absolutely convinced that true democracy can exist only on a spiritual foundation. It will endure when it rests firmly on the Christian conception of the individual and society." --
Douglas MacArthur, SCAP, to Catholic Digest, Tokyo, March 22, 1948

MacArthur made no bones about it, going so far as telling American church leaders in 1947 that he felt it "necessary to replace the old Japanese religions with Christianity," and called for "missionaries and more missionaries."

What happened? In large measure, Christian missionaries did not heed the call. Today, Japan is engulfed in Shitoism and Buddhism, not Christianity.

In Afghanistan, Bibles are being allowed to be burned without apology, but burn a Qur'an and come under the wrath of not only the Isalmists in Afghanistan, but also the Islamist in the Obama administration. Oh, how far we have come since the days of MacArthur!

I am with George Washington on the issue of us going and putting our noses in other people's business. However, I understand the reason we went into Afghanistan and wholeheartedly agree with a responding action against those that struck at us. The concern that I have is that we would never win there because we had not identified the enemy. Islam is an enemy to the United States.

Until we are willing to do that, we have no business having troops in the region. We won't even identify Islam as a threat in our own country! Some may call that cowardly. I say it is cowardly not to identify the enemy properly and cut it off at its root. Instead, we go about as though pieces of paper with stop Islam and jihadists. They won't. Sadly, the only thing Islam understands is violence, for that is what it was built upon, beginning with its founder.
