CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) Florida is proving itself to be to be a menacing viral plague, the Islamic ACLU. They are now claiming that friends of Ibragim Todashev, a close friend of deceased Boston Bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev, were subjected to harassment and that their Constitutional rights were violated. Ibragim Todashev was killed by authorities in May of this year. But now his friends are claiming FBI harassment, and so they have turned to the "civil rights" group CAIR to turn up the heat on the FBI. And turn up the heat they will.
CAIR is literally wreaking havoc on the state of Florida, one threat at a time, and with each new accusation, they dig their claws deeper into the very livelihood of the state, poisoning everything they touch. Even though CAIR has been hampered by accusations of money laundering and disgusting criminal activity, their power over authorities and people held captive by political correctness knows no bounds. All they have to do is scream harassment and everyone comes running. God forbid anyone offend a Muslim.
The newest claims brought forth by CAIR Florida have to do with alleged FBI intimidation, harassment, and "denial of fifth Amendment rights" to known friends of Ibragim Todashev. Todashev was a close associate of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the Islamic jihadist guilty responsible for the Boston Bombing. Tsarnaev was killed by authorities in the manhunt that ensued after the Boston Bombing.
Todashev was one of his closest friends and confidants. Friends of Todashev informed CAIR that the FBI forced them to "spy on Orlando-area mosques, threatening arrest if they failed to comply." The authorities wanted information on Todashev.
Ashurmamad Miraliev, one of Todashev's friends, was arrested on September 18th for threatening a witness in a Osceola County battery case from 14 months ago.
"Didn't ask him anything about the alleged charges. Just interviewed him for over six hours trying to get as much information on Ibragim Todashev as possible," said Hassan Shibly, director of the Florida chapter of CAIR. And they claim he was denied an attorney.
CAIR is claiming they were not allowed to speak with Miraliev until September 24th. Miraliev is still in jail on federal retainer.
"It is simply unacceptable for the FBI to continue to question our client and deny his requests to speak with his legal counsel,” CAIR-Florida Civil Rights Director Thania Diaz Clevenger said in a statement. “It fits the pattern of abuse and troubling behavior by FBI agents beginning in the days prior to the killing of the unarmed Ibragim Todashev. One can only wonder if Mr. Todashev was denied his rights to legal council (sic) during the questioning that ultimately resulted in his death."
Is it unacceptable? Miraliev was friends with Todashev. And Todashev was a known associate and friend of Tamerlan Tsarnaev. There is every chance that Todashev was aware of the Boston Bombing plot, or was directly involved in it. He was also implicated in a triple murder that took place in 2011 with Tsarnaev. Obviously, Todashev was a very dangerous man.
All CAIR has to do is scream "civil rights violation" and authorities jump. How was anyone's civil rights violated in this case? They weren't. But all CAIR has to do is make false claims of harassment by "Islamophobic" FBI agents, and they'll have a case.
The absurd claims against the FBI come a week after Todavesh's girlfriend, Tatiana Gruzdeva, claims she too was threatened by the FBI about her boyfriend's association with Tsarnaev.
She said, "They asked me again and again about Ibragim and all this stuff. They asked me, ‘Can you tell us when he will do something?’ I said, ‘No! I can’t!’ Because he wasn’t doing anything, and I didn’t know anything.” Gruzdeva told Boston magazine. “And they said, ‘Oh, really? So why don’t we call immigration."
The most disturbing element in this is the implied "targeting" of those who were close to Todashev. Todashev was a terrorist. His close association with Tsarnaev and his involvement in a triple murder implicate him in more ways than one. And authorities had every right to have his friends spy on the happenings at local mosques. This is where it begins and ends. A terrorist is made in a mosque.
But no question this will be another headache for the FBI as accusations of "civil rights" violations by Muslims trump any logistical reasoning for such investigation. Forget direct links to terrorism. That is secondary in today's hyper-PC world of "Islamophobia." Being "Islamophobic" is worse than being a terrorist.
