So desperate is Obama to make a deal with Iran that he is evidently willing to overlook the latest reports coming out of the terrorist nation. Or worse, maybe he already knows all this and doesn't care. Or even worse is that he doesn't know this and we do, and when his intelligence people try to tell him he sticks his fingers in his ears and runs around his desk yelling La-La-La.

He may wish to know that human rights abuses are ramping up as the ruthless regime under that moderate Hassan Rouhani is cracking down hard on anyone stepping out of line. The National Council for the Resistance of Iran (NCRI), a group inside Iran that is capable of delivering detailed information of the Iranian regime's secret activities, reports that 12 people, including two women, were hung at the Qezel Hesar prison. Naturally, this was not reported by their state-controlled media. The NCRI is the same group that recently revealed to the world yet another Iranian "secret" nuclear site.

But hey, Obama has to look at the bigger picture. He can't worry over a few hangings or other human rights abuses.

Well, maybe he should worry about this? The Clarion Project reports that Iran has just unveiled its latest missile project, dubbed the Soumar, "a surface-to-surface cruise missile with capabilities of reaching 1,500 miles (2,500 kilometers).  The announcement comes in the final weeks before the March 31 deadline set for the world powers to make an agreement with Iran regarding its nuclear program."

With this latest achievement, Iran is now capable of striking "U.S. ships in the Persian Gulf – as well as Israel, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and other parts of eastern and central Europe."

But wait – it gets better! External fuel tanks can be added to give the missile another 500km in range and one foreign expert says "the missile is capable of being launched from a plane as well as outfitted with a nuclear warhead, significantly increasing its reach." Adding to that good news is the announcement by Iran's Defense Minister that the new missile is "high precision due to its radar system that is able to function despite radio electronic counter measures of a potential enemy."

So in other words, by launching the missile from an aircraft, theoretically Iran could hit almost anywhere, providing said aircraft is able to get within 1800 miles of its target. Well that's heartwarming and not at all terrifying. So Washington DC could be struck by one of these missiles from halfway across the Atlantic Ocean, although a lot of good that would do without a nuclear warhead, and we all know that won't happen for 10 years or so. Feel better?

Oh there's more. There's always more when it comes to Iran.

The regime also announce two other long-range ballistic missile systems that are "smart weapons, capable of evading radar and remaining over a battlefield for a prolonged period of time, and that a "large shipment of the ballistic missiles is being delivered to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps. Hmmm – wonder why?

You might ask – how did they develop this kind of technology? Good question. Well, the Soumar was modeled from a Russian missile that was stolen from the Ukraine 12 years ago and sold by the Chinese to Iran. Ahh – our good buddies and trading partners the Chinese. They always want what's best for us and our allies.

So while Ali Younesi, an advisor to President Rouhani, says "Iran today has become an empire like it used to be throughout its history and its capital now is Baghdad and it is the center of our civilization, culture and identity, today as it was in the past," our dear president sticks his head in the sand and pretends that all is well.

Thank heavens for the 47 brave Senators led by Tom Cotton. It may be our only shot at not further enabling these madmen.
