I haven't seen such an uproar over a T-shirt since the donning of the "I Heart Chick-fil-A" at a Pennsylvania schools LGBT event.
This time, it's not individuals who ended up in hot water, but a retail clothier, PacSun. By now, you may have heard that the clothing retailer removed a shirt from the racks and shelves portraying an image of an upside down American flag.
Well, the T-shirt sparked a twitter "Hashtag" campaign in which one of the participants was actor James Woods. He tweeted: "Please, every follower of mine, please #Boycott PacSun. Disgusting trashing of American flag on Memorial Day."
A supporter of the campaign posted on Facebook that "I understand freedom of speech but this shirt, displayed prominently at the entrance of your store, for Memorial Day weekend is more distasteful and disrespectful than anything I thought I'd see. I will not be shopping at PacSun again."
Okay, I get the outrage and the boycott. After all, many of us understand that we are losing our country and witness constant reminders of it seemingly on a daily basis.
There are indeed a set of rules governing the display of the American flag that were published in 1942, and one of those rules are that "it should never be displayed with the union down, save as a signal of dire distress."
Mr. As Soon As Possible may be onto something. Look around folks! Our country is indeed in "dire distress," and these days, with this administration, the Pac Sun T-shirt seems oddly appropriate and should, in fact, be embraced by patriotic Americans.
Just look around and tell me our country is not in "dire distress." Our debt is well over $18 trillion - well more than can be paid back. That's almost $155,000 per taxpayer. Obamacare, just in its infancy, is already beginning to strangle our economy, one policyholder at a time. The newly insured rejoiced until they discovered Obamacare is too expensive to utilize. They cannot afford their deductibles, and State exchanges are going belly up. Despite some gains in a few states, the Obama minions have mounted a full court press on our guns. There are more people on food stamps than any time in our nation's history - over 46 million for 40 straight months.
Does this not sound like a country in "dire distress?" Want more?
Common core has taken over our schools, dictating what our children read and how they think and learn—or not, as the case may be. Queen Michelle Obama has taken hold of our children's lunches and dictated to them what they may and may not eat.
There are well over 93 million unemployed or underemployed in America. The federal government under the Loretta Lynch Justice Department is busy trying to federalize our police forces while at the same time vilifying them. Homeland security and Border Patrol have been ordered not to do their jobs. The NSA is collecting all our data—to do what with, they will not say. The IRS and the BLM are out of control. There is a concerted effort to whitewash or even snuff out religion—particularly the Christian faith—while at the same time demanding that marriage, which was originally a religious covenant, become a free-for-all.
Then there are the old stand-bys—global warming, the war on coal and oil, and probably dozens more that don't immediately come to mind.
So you tell me: if this is not a country in "dire distress," then tell me what "dire distress" looks like.
Someone should use the inverted flag symbol on a 2016 presidential campaign T-shirt. The tagline would be: "Right the Flag - Vote Conservative."Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter. You can also get Freedom Outpost delivered to your Amazon Kindle device here.
