During FBI Director James Comey’s time on Capitol Hill testifying before Congress, he was asked an interesting and pertinent question from Texas Republican Blak Farenthold.

Rep. Blake Farenthold: Why should any person follow the law if our leaders don’t? And we can argue about intent or not, but you laid out the fact that she basically broke the law but you couldn’t prove intent. Maybe I’m putting words in your mouth but I do want to know why any person should follow the law if our leaders don’t have to, maybe that’s rhetorical but I’ll give you the opportunity to comment on that.

It’s a good question. Why in the world should any American ever follow our laws, if our political leaders refuse to? Comey’s response was as damning as it was honest. If one of his agents had done what Clinton did, that agent would be facing severe consequences.

James Comey: That’s a question I’m no more qualified to answer than any American citizen. It’s an important question. In terms of my work, in my world, my folks would not be — one of my employees would not be prosecuted for this. They would face consequences for this.

So the notion that it’s either prosecute or you walk around smiling all day long is just not true for those people who work for the government. The broader question is one for a democracy to answer, not for me.

So, then, the question becomes… what consequences will Mrs. Clinton face? From what the Attorney General says, none. Even worse, President Obama recently called Hillary Clinton the “most qualified” candidate for president… ever.

Obama: Hillary Clinton has been tested. She has seen up close what’s involved in making those decisions. She has participated in the meetings in which those decisions have been made. She’s seen the consequences of things working well and things not working well, and there has never been any man or woman more qualified for this office than Hillary Clinton. Ever. And that’s the truth.

However, that’s not what Mr. Comey argued during his press conference on Tuesday or during his testimony on Thursday. In fact, Comey said quite the opposite. He seemed to argue that Hillary Clinton may actually be the most incompetent person to ever run for the job of President.

Comey: While not the focus of our investigation, we also developed evidence that the security culture of the State Department in general, and with respect to use of unclassified e-mail systems in particular, was generally lacking in the kind of care for classified information found elsewhere in the government. Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.

Whatever happens as this scandal winds down, I think we can all agree that, once again, Hillary Clinton has proven herself to be corrupt, self-serving, and completely unfit for leadership.
