Apparently, a  plethora of news stories are being circulated about Syrian President Bashar Assad suffering a stroke and others claiming that he survived an assassination attempt. However, the Syrian government is dismissing the reports as fake news, but is the source the Central Intelligence Agency?

Breitbart reports on several of the stories:

The state media outlet SANA did not report on the rumors, instead publishing an article on Monday stating that Assad had spoken to Venezuelan dictator and longtime ally Nicolás Maduro. Maduro reportedly “congratulated President al-Assad and Syrian people on the important achievements in the war against terrorist organizations which are backed by counties hostile to Syria.”

Maduro was famously among the last world leaders to see Cuban dictator and late Assad ally Fidel Castro alive, attending 90th birthday celebrations in Havana last year. Castro had stepped down from the dictator role in 2008 after widespread rumors of his death or severe incapacitation and was rarely seen in public for the next eight years.

Rumors began to circulate on social media that Assad had suffered a significant health event over the weekend. According to the Turkish state-friend outlet Sabah, the rumor took off when an Al Jazeera journalist, Faisal al-Qassim, said on Twitter that Assad was “bedridden” and used the news to demand Assad cease the Syrian government’s military activities. The UK Independent, meanwhile, traces the story back to Lebanese newspaper al-Mustaqbal, which reported that Assad had a stroke and is recovering in a Syrian hospital.

Saudi news outlet al-Arabiyareports that another publication, the Saudi newspaper Okaz, published a variation on the al-Mustaqbal report: that Assad had been hiding a brain tumor and received medical care during his last visit to Moscow. And yet another newspaper, Le Point of France, claimed that Assad “might have been assassinated by his personal Iranian Bodyguard Mehdi al-Yaacoubi.”

Syria's government has denied the reports and said that Assad has been "carrying out his duties quite normally."

“The presidency denies all these reports. President Assad is in excellent health,” his office said in a statement on Friday, according to Reuters.

In commenting on the debunked reports, The Daily Sheeple adds:

Also considering that we know the fake news agenda is really just black propaganda being wielded in a thinly veiled psychological operation (psyop) against people all over the globe, these rumors are being spread for a pretty obvious reason.

It sounds like a mafioso-esque threat on Assad’s life… and it sounds like something straight out of the CIA textbook.

This particular fake report calls to mind the shocking comments that former CIA Deputy Director Mike Morell made in an August 8, 2016 interview on The Charlie Rose Show.

Amid discussing how Morell wanted to make the Russians and Iranians “pay a price” in Syria, which Rose clarifies by asking, “We make them pay the price by killing Russians? And killing Iranians?” to which Morell responds, “Yes, covertly” — Morell goes on to say:

You don’t tell the world about it, right. You don’t stand up at the Pentagon and say we did this. Here’s the other thing I want to do, I want to go after — I want to go after those things that Assad sees as his personal power base, right. I want to scare Assad. So, I want to — I want to go after his presidential guard. I want to bomb his offices in the middle of the night. (Source)

Meanwhile, the warmongers in DC continue to push the US towards war in Syria, and President Donald Trump called them out on it in a series of tweets.

While I'm willing to give Trump the benefit of the doubt that his foreign policy will be different than his predecessors, He has already authorized attacks in Yemen, a country where Congress has not declared war per the Constitution and a country we should not be engaged in with deadly strikes.

The latest attack killed Anwar al-Awlaki's 8-year-old daughter and other relatives who are alleged to have been involved in terrorism.

If you recall, Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah authorized drone strikes to kill al-Awlaki following his appearance at the Pentagon pre-9/11 and also his 16-year-old son, both who were American citizens and neither was actually in the process of committing a crime.

Trump did vow to go after alleged terrorist families.

To his credit, Trump has sought to work out a peaceful resolution to Syria with Russia, though the reality is that the US' foreign policy under Obama is what caused the arming of Islamic jihadists by both the CIA and the Pentagon in an effort to remove Assad from power.
