In the article I penned regarding the KKK-style tactics being used against Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, I remarked [liberals] "support the amnesty of individuals who broke the immigration laws of this country. Heck, give them time and they might just support amnesty for all the convicted felons currently serving prison terms." Serena Williams, in true liberal fashion, made the point for me when she commented in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine about the Stuebenville, Ohio rape case. According to Rolling Stone story, Ms. Williams said the perpetrators of the crime "did something stupid," and she asks: "Do you think it was fair, what they got?"

Per MSN, two players from the celebrated Stuebenville, Ohio high school football team were convicted in March of raping a drunken 16-year-old girl; one of the boys was ordered to serve an additional year for photographing the girl naked. The case gained widespread attention in part because of the callousness with which other students used social media to gossip about it.

Ms. Williams, while not blaming the victim, stated in the interview, "she shouldn't have put herself in that position." She added, "..., if you're 16 and you're drunk like that, your parents should teach you: Don't take drinks from other people." Williams was also quoted saying, "She shouldn't have put herself in that position, unless they slipped her something, than that's different."

There is so much wrong with everything Ms. Williams said, I don't know where to begin except with the obvious. Rape is a crime punishable by law. Regardless of the circumstance, rape is a crime of violence and control: perpetrators exert power and use humiliation/intimidation tactics to either induce submission or force their will upon the victim. In simple terms, rape is sexual assault. Not all rape involves beating the victims. It is a crime involving mental, physical, emotional and psychological power and control over the victim.

To refer to the perpetrators of the crime as having done "something stupid" is a gross understatement. At their age, these players should know this was wrong: and I'll bet you they did know but chose to commit the act anyway. This is not being stupid. It's a couple of "celebrated" high school football players, feeling above reproach, exerting their superiority over someone else. Let me answer the question "Do you think it was fair, what they got?" Absolutely, beyond a shadow of a doubt. These boys enacted their will over someone who did not consent to the act. They compounded the issue by photographing the girl naked.

Everyone has the God-given right to be safe and secure in their person. Rape can occur anywhere, anytime, and by anyone. The callous statement made by this sports celebrity that "she shouldn't have put herself in that position" tells me Ms. Williams has a warped liberal sense of rape in direct opposition to the reality of what rape is and the devastating effects it can have on an individual. Although Ms. Williams says she's not blaming the victim, it sure sounds like it to me. But, she then qualifies her statement saying if the jocks slipped the girl something, that was different. I beg to differ Ms. Williams, but that's not different. This is a good example of the kind of logic liberals use.

Since Ms. Williams was not listening to herself to know after one comment to be quiet, she then blames the parents for not teaching the girl to refuse drinks from other people. I guess Ms. Williams forgot what it was like to be 16. Teenagers go through a rebellious stage and will do things against parental teachings. But, a bigger question looms in my mind. If the girl was intoxicated and is underage for the consumption of alcoholic beverages, who obtained the beverages and who gave it to the girl?

Ms. Williams has since apologized for the off the cuff, callous remarks she made; but, I'm sorry Ms. Williams, if I was the girl or the girl's parents, you would not get a pass from me. As a woman or any decent human being, you should know that rape is not about sex but is about violence. The outrageous comments you made were in true liberal fashion and were probably actually how you really felt. Because of the public outrage, you have backpeddled, apologizing for your statements. If you had just stopped to listen to yourself, you would have realized how ridiculous you sounded and could have limited the damage. In order to erase some of your "prejudices" towards victims of rape, I suggest you educate yourself regarding rape by visiting a rape crisis center.

Well, the proverbial cat is now out of the bag and everyone knows on which side of the fence you reside Ms. Williams. In addition, you provided an almost irrefutable example of liberal logic, making my point that liberals might just promote amnesty for criminals serving time in prison; after all, they just "did something stupid."
