If there is any doubt in anyone's mind that Congress and the President care not for the law of the land, the Constitution, one look at the "Schumer-Obama Plan" or the Pay Our Bills Act would clear up any doubt on this fact. If you recall, Republican leader Mitch McConnell introduced a similar bill in 2011 dubbed the "McConnell Plan" that included reforms and spending cuts as well as addressing the debt ceiling limit. According to CNSnews.com, the Pay Our Bills Act would grant Obama and "subsequent presidents the authority to increase the legal limit on the federal government's debt unless Congress subsequently voted to disapprove the increase.
Introduced by Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Barbara Boxer (D-CA), and Mazie Horono (D-HI), this bill permanently "allows Congress to disapprove debt ceiling increases, instead of approving them. In other words, this bill takes members of Congress off the hook for voting on an increase in the debt thereby putting members on the record with their vote. The President could just certify that he was going to increase the debt limit and Congress could just let him.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Barbara Boxer stated, "When our debt comes within $100 billion of the debt limit, the president can send Congress a certification that the debt limit needs to be increased by a certain amount. Then Congress has 15 days to vote on a resolution of disapproval, just like we're doing here in a few hours. This would allow Congress to fully debate and vote on the debt limit. A majority vote would carry in the House and Senate."
Those in support of the bill claim the legislation is "a bipartisan way to ensure the debt ceiling can't be used as a political tool."
Pardon me while I puke. Everyone else better get your waders on to trudge through the continuing pile of bull**** that keeps coming out of the mouths of members of Congress.
There is definitely something in the water in DC as these people have lost their ever loving minds.
In Article 1, Section 8, Clause 2 of the Constitution it plainly states, "The Congress shall have the power to …. borrow money on the credit of the United States." Nowhere does it say anything about the President doing so. The power of the purse rests with Congress; increases, decreases, whatever in the debt and borrowing power begins and ends with the legislative body. The President has no say.
When someone is using the debt ceiling as a political tool, they are clearly out of bounds. The debts are paid first and the treasury has plenty of money coming in weekly to do so. The ones playing politics with the debt are the Demo-idiot Senate and Obama since the House Republicans funded the government, except for Obamacare. They didn't like that so Obama and crony Demo-idiots played politics with the debt to get their way. Does anyone actually believe this "plan" would stop that? The administration doesn't follow the law now. What makes anyone think they will with this plan?
Boxer maintains, "the idea behind our bill was brought to us by Republican leader Mitch McConnell in 2011. He said Congress can have its say about the debt limit without jeopardizing the full faith and credit of the United States. So we make the McConnell rule permanent."
Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) called the Schumer-Obama plan an attempt at a PR gimmick.
According to McConnell, "He wants to extend the debt ceiling permanently by going around Congress. Let me repeat that: the so-called 'Schumer-Obama plan' is a plan to permanently hand the President a credit card without spending limits, and without lifting a finger to address the national debt. It's outrageous."
With everything going on in Washington, these political hacks might as well put a match to the Constitution for all of America to see.
As I said before, I don't care who occupies the position of President. Any President, member of Congress or Congress as a whole who seeks to distort the Constitution to empower the federal government outside of its enumerated powers or empower the Presidency to the point of monarchy and strip liberty and freedom from the people is a traitor and an enemy of the people. Congress giving any type of fiduciary decision making to the President is traitorous and in violation of the Constitution. Schumer, Boxer and Hirono should be run out on a rail. McConnell could use a muzzle and a seat on that train too.
How about a budget, you nitwits? It should not matter what political party affiliation the President has, the President's race, gender or religion when it comes to abiding by the Constitution. Democrats and liberals would be shouting at the top of their lungs calling for impeachment if a budget had not been passed under a Republican President. No Democrat or liberal would dream of allowing this type of power to be placed in a Republican president. If a Republican is ever elected president and this atrocity of a plan is put in place, the Demo-idiot party will be rushing to change it before the man's hand comes off the Bible after taking the oath of office.
Let's all call a spade, a spade and a dollar, a dollar. No President gets a pass on violating the law and neither should Congress.
And, if the Congress is hell bent and determined to allow the President some control over the purse strings, shouldn't an amendment be forthcoming to change the powers of the Presidency and Congress? I am by no means an expert on the Constitution; but, it seems to me this big of a change should go through that process.
Oh wait, where is my head? This group of Washington pea brains stopped listening to the people and upholding the law some time ago. We have a bunch of lying, thieving, pitiful excuses for legislators serving in Congress led by the worst lying, conniving, secretive, power hungry, terrorist supporting, and law violating president in the history of the United States.
Unfortunately, we have three more years of this mess unless Congress grows some cajones or Americans descend in force upon Washington. May God help us all.Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter. You can also get Freedom Outpost delivered to your Amazon Kindle device here.
