Austin City Council Democrat member and potential mayor Mike Marinez (I might also call him a communist) spoke to a crowd at an event that was hosted in association with Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo last Saturday, admitted that Barack Obama's long term gun control agenda is focused on a full and comprehensive firearms ban.

As you watch the video, you'll notice how Martinez sees a sign held by a protestor which reads, "Stop gun ban!" He remarked,

"Someone needs to inform him that there is no gun ban currently, but because of the work we're doing here today, we will make your sign legitimate shortly, so you hang on to that."

What is even more disturbing was the crowd cheering his comments, and this happening in Texas!

His comments came as he read a proclamation from Mayor Lee Leffingwell that declared April 6, 2013 "Texas Gun Sense Day" in Austin.

e6926b8a907dfaa9640a86f70c6cda91The gentleman he referenced is identified as "Texas George." According to the Examiner, he "walked back and forth in front of the crowd with a neon orange and white sign proclaiming "stop gun ban". Several protesters in the crowd attempted to shield his sign from view with their own signs in support of new gun laws."

"Passing more gun laws will not keep guns out of the hands of people that don't want to obey the law that are criminals, the very fact that they're criminals means they will ignore any laws," said "Texas George."

The event was sponsored in part by Texas Gun Sense, an anti-gun advocate group pushing for more gun control laws which include universal background checks, limiting magazine capacities and preventing guns from being put into the hands of anyone on school campuses, including armed security guards.

Between 100-150 people were attended the event.

Texas state Senator Jose Rodriguez (D- El Paso) spoke to the crowd stating "I oppose all efforts that put more guns in more places." Again, the crowd cheered these anti-American comments.

Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo attempted a pitiful attempt at addressing critics who claim that more gun control laws do not lower gun violence. He then pointed to Philadelphia and Chicago and said, "guns are coming from other parts of the country where there is a loophole as big as the Grand Canyon."

Just like a good Socialist, this police chief sees more government creating regulations and when they don't work, he doesn't push for something different, but more of the same. The real hypocrisy here is his lack of citing the escalation of violent crime skyrocketing in environments where the government has imposed more gun control legislation. That's the real issue that they run from.

Acevedo added, "Universal background checks make sense. It's not a political issue, it's a common sense issue. It is an issue that's not red or blue, the only red we're talking about is the blood of innocent people being spilled because we're not doing enough as American's."

No, it's all political. Universal background checks do nothing to stop anything and that is common sense when you look at how it operates. He is right about one thing. It is not a "red or blue" issue. It's a liberty and freedom issue and it's about him and others at this event spitting and trampling up on the Constitution and the memory of the blood of those brave men that fought so valiantly to provide us the freedoms we enjoy to keep and bear arms today.

Judy Johnson spoke about her sister who died at the hands of a criminal with a gun. She said, "She could have fought him off, she would have won if he hadn't had the gun." While my heart goes out to Ms. Johnson's family, the reality is her sister could have won if she would have had a gun!

Hilary Rand with Moms Demand Action said, "Its (sic) time to speak up against people who are perpetrating things that are just not true. Nobody wants to ban guns here we're just trying talking about coming up with sensible solutions that can help make us safer, we're talking about strengthening the laws that we currently have and creating new laws that will help us enforce those laws we currently have, nobody wants to change the constitution."  Perhaps someone needs to let Ms. Rand review the video of Mr. Martinez's comments.

Apparently, many in Texas have forgotten the Alamo, where it was guns and cannons that were used to fight back the attacking Mexican army led by General Antonio López de Santa Anna. Today it is still Mexican armies attacking Texas and other border states, but they are composed of Mexican drug cartels. In the state where brave souls such as renowned knife fighter Jim Bowie and famous frontiersman and former congressman from Tennessee Davy Crockett stood bravely to defend the cause of liberty and freedom, traitors have swarmed in and are declaring to the people that they will disarm them.

Please recall the words of Lt. Col. Comdt. William Barret Travis, only 26 years old at the time, as just days before he would make the ultimate sacrifice at the Alamo declared:

"I am besieged, by 1000 or more of the Mexicans under Santa Ana—I have sustained a continual Bombardment and cannonade for 24 hours and have not lost a man—the enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion, otherwise, to garrison are to be put to the sword, if the fort is taken—I have answered the demand with a cannon shot, and our flag still waves proudly from the walls—I shall never surrender or retreat. Then, I call on you in the name of Liberty, of patriotism, and everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid, with all dispatch—The enemy is receiving reinforcements daily and will no doubt increased to three or four thousand in four or five days. I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible and die like a soldier who never forgets what is due his own honor and that of his country."

Just three days before the fall of the Alamo, Travis would write to David Ayers,

"Take care of my little boy. If the country should be saved, I may make for him a splendid fortune: but if the country be lost and I should perish, he will have nothing but the proud recollection that he is the son of a man who died for his country."

Men of Texas… men of America….Where are you in this desperate hour, when the treasonous criminals among us are rising up and are declaring to take the one thing that enables you to "preserve a free state?" Will you stand with such as Lt. Col. Comdt. William Barret Travis and give your all to fight corrupt politicians who stand against us? Or will you run and hide? Play the man! Don't succumb to cowardice or trust in the things of this life which can be lost, but like Travis, may your declaration be, "The Lord is on our side."
