A few days ago, Washington's only non-voting member of Congress, Eleanor Holmes Norton, blamed the dismal number of enrollees in the Affordable Care Act on Republicans, whom she said, made the American public believe Obamacare had been repealed. To Norton, it was not important that the law is unconstitutional or that the website is not fully functional; it was important to blame Republicans. Fortunately, Eleanor Holmes Norton was wrong to blame Republicans, as it is "southern white radicals" who are to blame for the "disastrous, slow-motion train wreck failure that has been the rollout of the Affordable Care Act."

Yes, the race card has been played yet again. This time by Gloria J. Browne-Marshall in her essay, "2013: A Year of Racial Challenges."

According to the site that posted her essay, Browne-Marshall is an Associate Professor of Constitutional Law at John Jay College in New York City, is the author of a book entitled "Race, Law and American Society: 1607 to Present," and a journalist covering the Supreme Court, United Nations and major legal issues. Of course, it is not indicated where Browne-Marshall received her training in constitutional law nor any school she attended. Interestingly, John Jay College does not even list a curriculum vitae for Browne-Marshall.

Browne-Marshall states in the second paragraph of her essay, "In January, President Barack Obama began his second term. However, southern White radicals vowed to stop implementation of the Obama-care law leading one to wonder if Tea Party members would oppose affordable healthcare if it came from a non-Black President."

Southern, white, Tea Party members are responsible for the failed Obamacare enrollment according to this essay that rambles on about the continued racism in America, starting with the claim that "race-based criminal laws replaced slave laws" in the rebellious south after Abraham Lincoln ended slavery with the Emancipation Proclamation. She goes on to discuss Christopher Dorner, the LAPD officer who allegedly went on a shooting rampage that resulted in his commission of suicide. Browne-Marshall blamed Dorner's alleged killing spree on "an abundance of racism" that Dorner experienced throughout his life. Then, she highlights, what else, but the Trayvon Martin case, the reversal of the voting laws for Shelby County, Alabama, underfunded Public Defenders, and New York City's Stop and Frisk policy. Last, but not least, Browne-Marshall indicated that advocacy against gun violence could be stronger if families came together.

Browne-Marshall's essay is basically an attempt at race-baiting, with an out of place promotion against gun violence thrown in for good measure. She must be trying to get in line for Al Sharpton's position as America's Number One Race-baiter.

It must have escaped Gloria that Obama's approval rating is the lowest it's been – ever; but, all those who disapprove of Obama must be "southern white radicals." The majority of Americans are opposed to Obamacare to the tune of 62%. Again, all of those individuals must be "southern white radicals." Someone please send Gloria the memo informing her about the 4.7 million Americans who have lost their health care insurance coverage while only 2 million have enrolled in Obamacare. Surely, she doesn't think that all those not enrolling are "southern white radicals."

Evidently, Ms. Browne-Marshall does not understand that it would not matter who was elected president, America would be faced with this government-operated, socialized health care law. Clinton tried it when he was president. Remember Hillary-care? In fact, it has been stated that Obamacare was modeled off of the Massachusetts system, aka, Romney-care. Regardless of who was elected, this power grab by the government would still have happened. It seems Ms. Browne-Marshall wasted money on her constitutional law education from wherever she received it.

Try again, Ms. Browne-Marshall. The race card is old and worn out. It's time to stop hiding behind excuses and put the blame where it belongs along with the true reasons for it. The unpopularity of Obamacare has nothing to do with whether the president is black or white. That horse has long been dead; you are sitting on a rotting corpse. The government "take-over" of one-sixth of the economy that is medical care is outside the enumerated powers of the federal government for starters. If you truly were a constitutional lawyer, you would know this. Maybe, like Obama, you missed those classes.

The government grab on health care has to do with power and control over the people. It has nothing to do with the race of the president or anyone else. If you remove your "race-colored" glasses, you will be able to see things more clearly; then, you will understand what all of this is leading toward.

Your champion president, Obama, lied 36 times to Americans about keeping their current health care plan and doctors; then, when caught in those lies, attempted to qualify his statement with more lies. Is Obama so dumb that he doesn't realize video of those 36 times he lied would be available for replay? Of course not, he's treating the American people with disdain, showing his belief that all Americans are stupid.

It's about character, Ms. Browne-Marshall – character of the man who occupies the highest elected office in our nation. Time and time again, Obama has proven he lacks good character. Obama changes legislation on a whim either through verbal decree or executive order as a king or dictator would. Instead of ensuring the laws are enforced equally, Obama chooses which laws are to be enforced and to which group those laws apply. These are the actions of a despot. Remember, it is every man's God-given right to oppose despots who inflict injustice upon any people.

Yes, I know, I would be classified by you as one of those "southern white radicals." However, I oppose any president, regardless of political affiliation, race, gender or religion, who would usurp power, trample the Constitution by disregarding it as the law of the land, and seek to remove God-given rights from every American citizen. It's a difficult concept for you, I'm sure, that I would oppose anyone who would take away your God-given rights since it's possible, from your essay, you would not do the same. However, this is the difference between "southern white radicals" as you call us and those who would seek to muddy the water with irrelevant issues in order to assist in leading the masses toward a new form of slavery.

While you may believe you are imparting some great knowledge to the masses because of your "documented" educational and professional background, you are doing nothing but encouraging division across racial lines which goes to show that education doesn't always mean "educated."
