Anti-gunner and Islamic sympathizing New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who has lost quite a bit of weight in an attempt to run for president, told people gathered at a March 24 town hall meeting that if the voters only elected a pro-gun legislature that he would “respect” gun rights.
OK, if you are with me on this, first you would understand that in order to lead, as in be a president, you must know how to lead, not follow. Second, there is no such thing as “gun rights.” Guns don’t have rights. People do, and lately, Americans are rediscovering those rights.
The Wall Street Journal reports:
In response to a question about his support for the Second Amendment, the potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate said that New Jersey’s Democrat-led Legislature has sent him only bills that further restrict these rights, many of which he has vetoed.
“Send me a Republican legislature. And with a Republican legislature you’ll have a governor who will respect, appropriately, the rights of law-abiding citizens to be able to protect ourselves,” Mr. Christie said about the Second Amendment when asked a town hall meeting in this Morris County township.
Mr. Christie ended by saying: “No rights are given to you by government. All are rights are given to you by God.”
Mr. Christie has previously stated that he supports “strictly enforcing” New Jersey’s existing gun-control laws, which are some of the strongest in the U.S. He has vetoed bills that would provide additional restrictions, such as reducing gun magazine capacity.
Second Amendment rights could be an issue that confronts Mr. Christie if he runs for president. Other potential Republican candidates, such as Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, have taken strong stances against gun control laws.
If anyone was actually thinking of voting for dough boy, I suggest you think again. Not only is this man in bed with Islamists, but he doesn’t have the intestinal fortitude (and yes, I’m sure there is a lot of intestines there) to stand up for what he claimed are rights given by God. Sure, the rhetoric is there, but this man has allowed measures to advance in his state that go contrary to his claim.
The ties to Islamists is an important one, since we know that there are Muslim Brotherhood front groups that are opposed to the Second Amendment.
Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to James Madison on December 20, 1787 wrote, "What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms."
Jefferson also wrote in Commonplace Book, quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria, “The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
Additionally, George Mason said, “to disarm the people… is the most effectual way to enslave them.”
And lest some people get a bit snippy with the fact that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed and want to talk about militia, let me point you to George Mason’s famous quote as he addressed the Virginia Ratifying Convention in June of 1788. He said, “I ask who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers."
Finally, Noah Webster warned about something that is currently being unmasked, namely operations like Jade Helm conducted under the guise of military operations. He said, “Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every country in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops."
If Chris Christie believed what he says, then he should veto any and all bills that come across his desk that have anything to do with restricting or regulating arms, ammunition or high capacity magazines. While he has vetoed some gun laws, gun control has expanded under his governorship. That is a fact.
