During the season that is referred to as Christmas, many churches set up nativity scenes in an attempt to depict the birth of Jesus Christ. While it can be debated in the Christian community as to whether Christmas actually has anything to do with Christ or not (some believe as I do that we aren't commanded to observe the day and that Christ was not born on December 25 and others believe otherwise), one thing is certain: It has nothing to do with Trayvon Martin. However for the liberal Claremont United Methodist Church in California, it apparently is attempting to make Trayvon Martin the center of their nativity scene.
David Allen of the Daily Bulletin reports:
Nativity scenes have a few standard elements: a manger, swaddling clothes, happy parents, sheep, maybe the Three Wise Men. They don't generally include Trayvon Martin.
But there he is, wearing a hoodie, a stream of blood pouring from his chest onto the straw-covered floor of the scene outside Claremont United Methodist Church, the holy family around him.
There is danger in the manger.
For the seventh straight Christmas, the church at 211 W. Foothill Blvd. has turned its Nativity display into a piece of art that comments on our times.
Artist John Zachary says that the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin struck him as a worthy subject for a Christmas comment.
One wonders exactly what about the acquittal of Zimmerman and the death of Martin would strike Zachary as something worthy of a "Christmas comment." Hang on to your hats for this one folks.
Apparently, the artist thinks because the story of King Herod looking to slaughter all the baby boys that were two years and under, in order to murder the Messiah.
The problem though is that for Zachary to claim the issue has anything to do with Herod and his murderous rampage to murder innocent baby boys is preposterous. What Herod was engaged in took place two years after the birth of Christ, just like the magi showing up to deliver gifts to the Christ child happened two years after his birth.
Zachary says that one of the pictures that he says of Trayvon lying dead really got to him. "What if Jesus was lying there bleeding to death? I was kind of thinking of that," said.
Well, Jesus did bleed and die Mr. Zachary. He did so at the hand of wicked men of both the Jews and the Gentiles. But it is the mixing of Scripture with the artwork that frankly, is blasphemous.
It then gets even more bizarre. Zachary titled his work "A Child is Born, a Son is Given," and the wording is in red, pooled in the blood of the Martin figure. Isn't that something? I want to say if Obama had a son, he would look like Trayvon Martin, the Messiah facade and all. What does the birth of Christ and the death of a sinner like Trayvon Martin have to do with each other? Nothing. Martin, apparently, got what he deserved in the matter, which Christ received what sinners deserve.
To demonstrate further the liberal tendencies of the church, the female that claims to be the pastor (contrary to Scripture), Sharon Rhodes-Wickett, said:
"I found this year's hard to look at. It's hard to look at a young man who's shot and bleeding to death. But even though I'm uncomfortable with it, that's the point. We have to take a look at the violence."
"I thought this would be more controversial, but I come to find out people don't really like people gettin' shot," said Zachary, almost with a chuckle. "They may not agree what to do about it, but they agree it's a bad thing."
As for Rhodes-Wickett, she added, "Some people think it's too edgy. I understand that point of view. I don't know what the future will bring, but at this point it's an annual thing."
Well friends, this is what you get when you turn from the Scriptures. You get unbiblical practices, unbiblical pastors, ignorant Christians and allow the distortion of the gospel message to the point where a common thug like Trayvon Martin is placed at the forefront of people's mind and Scriptures are "artistically" attributed to him.
May God bless America…. with some serious, biblical repentance and may it begin among His people!Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter. You can also get Freedom Outpost delivered to your Amazon Kindle device here.
