The Associate Press (not Fox News or any Republican outfits) is reporting that Hillary Clinton's private server operated in such a way that made it incredibly easy to be hacked.
In fact, Hillary was wrongly using technology that had been banned by the State Department, but Clinton, being above the law, didn't care. The AP also found that at least one hacker (who was willing to admit it) had scanned Clinton's server and the information within at least twice!
From the AP:
The private email server running in Hillary Rodham Clinton's home basement when she was secretary of state was connected to the Internet in ways that made it more vulnerable to hackers while using software that could have been exploited, according to data and documents reviewed by The Associated Press.
Clinton's server, which handled her personal and State Department correspondence, appeared to allow users to connect openly over the Internet to control it remotely, according to detailed records compiled in 2012. Experts said the Microsoft remote desktop service wasn't intended for such use without additional protective measures, and was the subject of U.S. government and industry warnings at the time over attacks from even low-skilled intruders.
Records show that Clinton additionally operated two more devices on her home network in Chappaqua, New York, that also were directly accessible from the Internet. One contained similar remote-control software that also has suffered from security vulnerabilities, known as Virtual Network Computing, and the other appeared to be configured to run websites.
The Clinton team is responding by, again, trying to spin the story. A Clinton spokesperson acknowledged the problem but then added, "this report, like others before it, lacks any evidence of an actual breach, let alone one specifically targeting Hillary Clinton. The Justice Department is conducting a review of the security of the server, and we are cooperating in full."
Again, Team Clinton misses the point. They seem to think that because we can't prove anything bad actually happened, no one should be upset with them and that Clinton did nothing wrong. NOPE.
Just because we may have escaped her idiotic handling of state secrets doesn't mean that her bungling should go unpunished. Hillary Clinton put our national security in far greater danger than most foreign spies ever do. The Obama administration is desperate to get its hands on Edward Snowden, but his sins are FAR LESS egregious than those of Hillary Clinton. Snowden's leaks put exactly NO American lives in danger… Hillary Clinton's put many, many lives in danger.
The AP kept digging on the story and eventually came across and Internet "census" by a hacker-researcher who, several years ago, had scanned Clinton's servers at least twice! The hacker used a computer in Serbia to scan Clinton's servers and then left the information on how to access those servers online. Security experts in the government and in the private sector are aghast at the manner in which the Clinton team handled their security, with one calling the efforts "amateur hour" and another telling the AP that even "an attacker with a low skill-level would be able to exploit this (remote access) vulnerability." Another cyber security professional went further, saying that the AP's findings suggest that the Clinton sever setup "violates the most basic network-perimeter security tenets: Don't expose insecure services to the Internet."
This is not a person who deserves consideration to be President of the United States. Her behavior, her actions and her judgment have put the American people in harm's way during a very difficult time in American history.
