The twenty-one-year old Muslim, Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, who allegedly tried to blow up the Federal Reserve Building in New York with a 1,000 pound bomb provided to him by our own FBI, claims to have been a devotee of Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda. Nafis was taken down in a sting by the same FBI that provided him with the bomb and the detonator once he had pressed the button to detonate.
The bomb was similiar to the one used in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Nafis used 50 20-pound bags of ammonium nitrate to build his car bomb. Interestingly that is just about 300 pounds more than DHS ordered back in August.
William Bigelow writes,
On or about July 5, 2012, the FBI agent involved in the sting received a call from Nafis in which he said all Muslims and Muslim sheiks in the United States were “Talafi,” which meant “not true Muslims.” Nafis said he admired Sheikh “O,” understood to be Osama bin Laden, and that he admired the magazine starting with “I,” understood to be the al-Qaeda-affiliate-sponsored publication “Inspire.” He also described the United States as “dar al-harb”, which means “land of war” in Arabic.
On or about July 11, 2012, a third party Nafis had recruited told the FBI agent that NAFIS wanted to attack and kill a high-ranking government official.
On or about July 24,2012, Nafis said:
What I really mean, is that I don’t want something that’s like, small. I just want something big. Something very big. Very, very, very, very big, that will shake the whole country, that will make America, not one step ahead, change of policy, and make one step ahead, for the Muslims . . . that will make us one step closer to run the whole world …
On or about October 12, 2012, Nafis gave another FBI agent a thumb drive containing an article he had written about his motivations for his attack, which included quotations from “our beloved Sheikh Osama bin Laden” to justify the fact that his plot likely involved the killing of women and children.
A criminal complaint accuses Nafis of having overseas connections to Al Qaeda and travelling to the U.S. in January to recruit individuals to form a terrorist cell and conduct an attack on American soil. He came under the guise of going to school in Missouri on a student visa. One of Nafis' potential recruits was an FBI source, who alerted authorities, the FBI said.
A federal law enforcement official told Fox News that there was no evidence Nafis was directed by Al Qaeda to carry out this attack, though he appears to have thought he was working for the terrorist group.
Authorities had the suspect under constant video surveillance and watched him in a room with big screen televisions in an operations center in the city.
“We will not stop until we attain victory or martyrdom,” he threatened in a videotape he intended to release after detonating what he thought was a massive bomb, authorities said.
His bomb plot against the Fed was undertaken after he allegedly explored an assassination attempt on Barack Obama.
While Obama has gone on and on spiking the football over the death of bin Laden, he is that many young radical Islamists are ready to kill in his name. In fact, many in Egypt let out chants following the Benghazi attack exclaiming, "We are Osama, Obama!"
What I do find interesting in the arrest of Nafis is that the articles claim that he was to form a terrorist cell group, but as of yet, he seems to be the only member of the cell. Perhaps that is due to the fact that his cell seems to consist entirely of FBI informants.Don't forget to Like Freedom Outpost on Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter.
