Gun Confiscation: Connecticut Tells Unregistered Gun Owners to Surrender Firearms

Editor's Note: The following is eerily reminiscent of what took place prior to the Revolutionary War. This is the same kind of tyranny that was exercised against our Founding Fathers and for which they took up arms. You mean you didn't learn that the Revolutionary War was mainly sparked from an out of control government attempting to take the Colonists' arms? Well then, maybe before you read Dean's piece below, you should educate yourself with the fact that the British banning guns was what brought about the revolution in this article.

Earlier this month, The Daily Sheeple's Kimberly Paxton reported on the mass "civil disobedience" that is going on in Connecticut. The state estimates that over 350,000 "assault weapons" belonging to as many as 100,000 gun owners remain unregistered:

About 50,000 residents dutifully followed the new law, standing in long lines to register their firearms.

However, officials say that this is just a small percentage and that potentially 350,000 "assault weapons" remain unregistered.

A number estimated to be anywhere from 20,000-100,000 people in Connecticut are now committing a Class D felony. Some politicians believe that people failed to register because they didn't know about the law, while others believe this is a direct act of defiance, similar to the resistance that took place in New York last January.

A few have tried to provide explanations for the gun owners' actions (or lack of actions). Some have claimed that many may not have known about the new law or simply did not meet the deadline due to the timing. Anyone who celebrates the December holidays knows that it is easy to forget things that may be a priority at any other time of the year. The measure was signed into law in April of 2013 so I would surmise that the majority of these gun owners had to know.

However, it has since become clear that not all of these gun owners were participating in mass civil disobedience. Some were just slow to comply, or perhaps they got "cold feet" and decided to comply.

So how would you expect that Connecticut would deal with an application that was received a few days late? You would think they might be thankful that the applicant complied, albeit not on their desired schedule.

This is not at all the case. Connecticut has made it clear that this is not about registration of lawful gun owners. This is about finding any excuse they can for gun confiscation. Late applications are not being accepted. Kit Daniels reports:

The State of Connecticut is now demanding that gun owners across the state turn in all newly-banned, unregistered firearms and magazines or face felony arrest.

The State Police Special Licensing & Firearms Unit began mailing out notices to gun owners who attempted to register their firearms and accessories with the state but did not do so in time for the Jan. 1 deadline of Connecticut's newly enacted gun control law.

The law bans the sale of magazines holding over 10 rounds and "assault rifles" manufactured after 1994 and requires that residents who possessed either before the ban to register them with the state.

"We are returning your application for [an] assault rifle certificate and/or [a] large capacity magazine declaration because it was not received or postmarked prior to January 1, 2014 as required by law," the notice states.

The Capitalism Institute has acquired a copy of the letter (pasted at the end of this article) and summarizes the situation very succinctly:

So, let's get this straight… Residents in Connecticut have the choice of:

  1. Complying with blatantly unconstitutional law by threat of government
  2. Selling their weapon to a government-approved dealer;
  3. Destroying their own guns or magazines;
  4. Letting someone in a more pro-gun state hold them; or
  5. Giving it directly to the police.

Talk about "land of the free"!

Does this seem like it was ever about any type of registration for public safety? I don't personally believe that such things exist, because gun registration is unconstitutional and always directed toward the same goal… gun confiscation.

Be warned America.

Make no doubt about it, those of us who actually know of your plight and haven't been sucked away by the latest volley of "the dog waggin the tail" measningless Ukraine fiasco - note* (it's not our fight and the only ones interested are the RINO Establishment - (( Ukraine made it's choice not to go NATO/EU at the fall of the Wall while others made the jump and have (had until Comrade Obama sabotaged the Defense Initiative) protection)) - our trade with Ukraine only amounts to 2 billion a year and there is no "Free Trade Agreement" with them - it's not our fight and couldn't afford another war anyway - note* ( Obamas $3.9 Trillion Budget Would Produce $564 Billion Deficit and By 2024, the total national debt would rise from $17.4 trillion to nearly $25 trillion and by 2024, the total national debt would rise from $17.4 trillion to nearly $25 trillion.) ..

So, you guys need to get the message out loud and clear, real quick because your balls are volnerable right now - just kinda hangin out there and the sooner you get this movement viral the better !
safety in numbers if ya get my drift !

Makes me wonder if the state rejected a bunch of applications just to make an attempt to confiscate a few guns.

  • Bruce Wayne

Congrats,It looks like you guys are going to get the ball rolling.

  • Ain'tskeerd

Maybe some will wait another month and register on April Fools' Day. These guns are not illegal - they're undocumented!

Connecticut and NY are serving as test cases. If they succeed in confiscating citizens guns, other liberal states will follow and Obama will begin at the federal level. If a few hundred Connecticut civil servants (what a sic pair of words: civil servant) were to die in the attempt this would stop for now. Their next move would be to bring in the UN or a foreign army.

  • Ideas Time

The big part of the problem is these corporate public servant traitors are never held accountable for their endless crimes.

  • Ideas Time

These traitors need to arrest them selves or a few thousand of these guys need to show up at city and conduct citizens arrests and file charges of treason in a citizens court or grand jury. These politicians are committing felonies and treason. At least try and find a judge and report the crime and hold the judge concurrently liable.

There was not a date of compliance, in the letter, to do whatever is "acceptable" with the state.
If they do not do as instructed, I can foresee the "police state/martial law" I think
oblamo wants and is prepared for by arming so many government employees
with automatic weapons, armored vehicles, purchase of many millions of various
ammunitions for small arms. Agencies who will armed are IRS, Park Rangers
to name a few and the ones who are already armed are the FBI, ATF, Homeland
Security, and probably some we have never heard of or named here, will be
"beefed up". The military has already been prepped to handle us "terrorist", even
prepared them for this scenario to fight Americans.

This tyranny must be resisted. Smuggle, hide, defy these jackboots.

Gun owners do not have to incriminate themselves:

    "U.S. v. Fleish, 227 F.Supp. 967 (E.D.Mich.
After serving 20 years for being caught with 8
unregistered machine guns, and after numerous unsuccessful legal challenges, in
this case Fleish gets out of prison after the court strikes down all but one of
the crimes he was sentenced for, based on the Russell
case. The court finds that the failure to register firearms charges he was
convicted of, in 1939, were unconstitutional in that they compelled Fleish to
incriminate himself in violation of the 5th amendment."

What will YOU do when it comes to YOUR State?

  • Frank Brady

    Just say no!

The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed -- where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once........Justice Alex Kozinski, US 9th Circuit Court, 2003

Will the last gun owner leaving Connecticut please turn out the lights.

    • Alleged Comment

I think he should shoot the lights out.

One of the original 13, how proud their ancestors must be? Their ancestors are the ones who demanded the 'Bill of Rights', and especially the 2nd Amendment, for their protection and prosperity, which now is being deprived by their descendants. What has happened to the proud and independent American citizen, being replaced by those who want the rights and freedoms guaranteed in the 'Bill of Rights' to be rescinded, so the socialists and communists can enslave the American people through their tyranny, which now cannot be opposed with the actions and force of the people, who are now being disarmed against their will. Tyranny and enslavement doesn't happen over night, but one small step at a time, which the government of Connecticut has taken that first step, and are now after the patriots who refuse to give up their heritage, the rights and freedoms guaranteed them by the 'Bill of Rights' in the 'US Constitution', something that the government of Connecticut refuses to accept or obey. Throughout history, registration of arms has always, without exception, led to confiscation of those arms, which is now taking place in Connecticut, which next will go after those who complied and capitulated to the infringement of the 2nd Amendment through the registration of their arms, that will be used for their disarmament. Think not, then just wait and see, for when it starts to take place, it will be too late to stop it, and you can be assured it will happen with the consent, support, and help of the federal government.
