New Obamacare Tax: Sell Your Home, Help Fund Obamacare

Just a suggestion… Maybe next time we should read it to find out what's in it. Would that be too much to ask? Maybe it would be considering the length of the legislation but this is getting silly.

Last Friday I reported that The Obama Administration was letting labor unions off the hook on a $25 billion Obamacare Tax that was supposed to reimburse insurance companies for the losses incurred by accepting preexisting conditions. Thanks to Obama that money will now come directly from taxpayers' pockets in the form of higher premiums. You don't expect the insurance companies to lose money, do you?

Well, it appears that we are not done learning about new taxes that stem from The Un-Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare).

My9 New Jersey

Ronica Cleary reports:

soldThe Affordable Care Act or Obamacare seems to be in the headlines every day because of all of the problems surrounding the launch. And while most realize the law is funded in part by the individual mandate and penalty tax, it is also being funded in ways that are not discussed as much in the media.

Luxury real estate broker Ron Aioso says there is a tax that is rarely discussed that also helps fund Obamacare. It is a tax on high-income taxpayers when they sell their homes.

Franklin Lakes, N.J. was listed on Forbes.com in 2010 as one of "America's Most Expensive ZIP Codes", with a median home price of $1.3M.

Aioso says homeowners in a neighborhood like this could really be impacted by the Obamacare tax.

"Where we are today in a luxury area, you look and you see this home behind me, somebody like this is really affected," he said.

If you are single with an adjusted gross income of $200,000 or file jointly with an income of $250,000 or more, you may be impacted. Once you sell your home, any profits over the first $500,000 are already subject to a capital gains tax. And now those profits will have an additional 3.8% tax to fund Obamacare.

A lot of people are probably thinking that this doesn't affect them. Most of us will not make $500,000 or more profit on our home sales and most of us do not earn $200,000 or $250,000 per year. This is not the point.

Where I live you can live very well for this kind of money. However, in certain areas of the country this income makes you somewhat middle class. Houses that cost $250,000 here will sell for $2.5 million or more in certain areas of the country.

To a lot of us this sounds like just another tax on wealthy people that they can afford but that is not at all the case. There are places in this country where $250,000 for a married couple with a few kids is nothing special. This is a tax on the middle class as well.

It boils down to the old socialism vs. capitalism debate. The frightening thing is that a lot of conservatives are starting to think like socialists and they do not even realize it. I hear a lot of conservatives say things like, "they can afford it" when you speak of wealthy people paying more taxes.

The bottom line is that there has to be incentive to earn. That is what stimulates production and drives a capitalist economy. When you take the incentive for wealth away then you are drifting further and further into a socialist state.

Socialist states are about slavery and oppression. I am not sure that people in this country understand that they are asking to be enslaved but they are. You can make that decision for yourself. Knock yourself out, but you cannot make that decision for my children.

The American people must find a way to stop Obamacare before it's too late.

Some think it's too late already. I obviously don't think that or I wouldn't keep doing this every day, but I can understand the frustration and where those thoughts come from.

What do you think?

Wonder how many of these "upper middle class" morons contributed to the Liar King and his demo-dummies?

I saw this when it first cane out and i was called a racist- i want my apology for everytine this word "racist" was mis used!

  • RonMar

No way I'll sell my home and timeshares. As a matter of fact I am in the process right now of buying another home with a bit of land.

  • BONCARBO

We all may as well sell everything we own because in the end Obama will own everything we have worked for all our lives and we will all be living in government housing and getting our health care from government run, single payer, (Medicaid, Welfare), agencies.

    • RonMar

You might be living in government housing, etc., but I won't. I am a free man who knows my freedoms, rights, have defended them in combat and will do it again if necessary. Give me your address, and I'll send a White flag to you.

When Pelosi said "We must pass this law to find out all that is in it" a Doctor commented "That is the definition of a stool sample">

  • Mary

There's all kinds of hidden tax surprises inside Obamacare. Should be named 'Obama doesn't care' because with Obamacare you'll be paying through the nose within every facet of your life.

    • RonMar

These jokes are older than the story is, just as tiresome and boring too.

The author of this article began by suggesting that maybe we should have read the bill before it was passed. The problem with We The People reading the bill before it was passed (as well as most of our Senators and Congressmen and women) is HOW it was written and passed. If what I have been hearing is true only Democrats were in on the writing of the law, and few people had the time to read it once it was "finished" and before it was voted on. None of It was done on C-Span, as was also promised, so that all of us could see what was in it and let our thoughts be known. As Ms. Pelosi said, "You have to pass the bill in order to know what is in it".

Laws, like a signed contract, are binding. What president, who is supposed to look out for ALL of the people, would sign a law (contract) as complex as this WITHOUT knowing exactly what is in it? And for the president to sign it into law is dereliction of duty if he hadn't read the entire bill, knew exactly what was in it, and knew that there were things in it that would hurt a large number of people as this law will do, and has already done -- with more to come.

To make matters worse, he began telling lies about it (If you like your plan.......). Some would say that it isn't helpful to call our president a liar. But what else can it be when there is a lot of evidence that he knew all along that we would not be able to keep our existing health care insurance? If he didn't know, then he didn't read the law before he signed it..

    • 2shinyshoes

Inside this behomoth pile of paper trash, frequent references to Laws. One has to be a Lawyer to get through the damn thing. And of course any tiny detail that may have been over-looked has been added by Sebiloius, burning the Midnight Oil, adding profits from Private House Sales and an Organized "Civilian" Armed Army to be at the beck and call of this Administration. http://askmarion.wordpress.com/2012/07/10/obama-gets-civilian-army-in-healthcare-bill/ Can anyone explain to the Public the reason for these two hidden Laws?

  • 2shinyshoes

Wow, just wow! What's next? I used to work for a large corporation, and we employees used to joke, when the company couldn't think up anything else to do that was a negative to the employees, another "rule" would come down from "above". Incredible! Seems like these little obama drones spent a lot of time covering every aspect of our lives, squeezing every dime they could get from anyone who had anything of value.

    • RonMar

That was and still is their plan, so it should not surprise anyone or even merit a comment at this point in time. I suggest you spend more of your time and energy helping those of us who are really doing some things to get them removed from power ASAP.

    • 2shinyshoes

Exactly what did I say that makes you think I am not "joining forces" to reel this Federal Government back into control of the People? If I need your advice, I'll ask for it!

    • RonMar

Oh, you need my advice alright. It's not what you said as much as it is what you did not say and how you said what you said as if you are surprised. FYI, "Wow, just wow" conveys surprise, so also does "incredible" in context.
Toughen up if you want to come across as as a tough guy. In basic training soldiers are often told "If I want your opinion I will beat it out of you."
Maybe that's what you need, some basic training, followed by advanced training and some combat experience, 2shinyshoes. "2shinyshoes." Really? LOL.
I'd rather your made up, childish user name was 2bloodyboots, or even 2dirtyboots.

    • jimshaw54

Calm down. You read WAY too much into what 2shinyshoes said, or didn't say in his original post.

    • RonMar

Exactly who do you imagine you are telling me to calm down and how I read? I see no evidence you are qualified to come to such conclusions and to issue such orders and assertions.
There is an old and true saying to the effect if you are not energized by what is happening around you, you simply do not grasp the situation. You have identified yourself as one to which the true saying applies.

    Clocks in Heaven

A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him.

He asked, "What are all those clocks?" St. Peter answered, "Those are Lie-Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock. Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move."

"Oh," said the man, "whose clock is that?"

"That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie."

"Incredible," said the man. "And whose clock is that one?"

St. Peter responded, "That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in his entire life."

"Where's President Obama's clock?" asked the man.

"Obama's clock is in Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan."

    Artificial Intelligence

A lady bought a new Lexus & it cost a bundle. Two days later, she brought it back, complaining that the radio was not working.

"Madam," said the sales manager, "the audio system in this car is completely automatic. All you need to do is tell it what you want to listen to, and you will hear exactly that!"

She drove out, somewhat amazed and a little confused. She looked at the radio and said, "Nelson." The radio responded, "Ricky or Willie?" She was astounded. If she wanted Beethoven, that's what she got. If she wanted Nat King Cole, she got it.

She was stopped at a traffic light enjoying "On The Road Again" when the light turned green and she pulled out. Suddenly an enormous sports utility vehicle coming from the street she was crossing sped toward her, obviously not paying attention to the light. She swerved and narrowly missed a collision.

"Idiot!" she yelled and, from the radio, "Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States."

Contact you Reps. and Senators that if they like their jobs you demand they REPEAL/ DEFUND the ACA Act a/k/a Obama care, IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS, that you will not hesitate to send them home. Only about 1/3 are up for re-election in 2014 and if they don't play by YOUR RULES you will terminate their jobs in 2014. Another 1/3 will be up for re-election in the Presidential Election and YOUR LONG MEMORY will not allow you to re-elect them. If you live in a State like Ohio with a Liberal Progressive Senator who is attacked at the hip to President Obama and even Bernie Sanders. If you are not familiar with Sanders Google him. Thankfully we have a Conservative Senator also.
    .
It is all up to us, the American Citizens to vote for The United States.

    • jimshaw54

Unfortunately, anyone who is of voting age can vote, whether they pay taxes or not, or on "welfare" or not. So we are at the cusp of more people who don't pay taxes (get more FROM the taxpayers) than people who pay taxes. Guess who the people who get more from government than pay into government are going to vote for?

  • Kent2012

I thought that nance pe$lutsi put a masterbation tax in there somewhere.....or was it hairiest reidy ? not sure, oh well......never let a crisis go to waste......

  • bob machaffy

We told people this was written in "fine print" in aca they didn't believe us and called us bigots and that this wasn't true.

  • Nachtus

Sounds like the rich bitching about someone playing with their money. Big deal, they need to toss some of it to help others instead of sitting on it like it's an egg going to hatch into something amazing. Also, having an income of a quarter mill making you middle class in some areas is bullshit. Maybe if you're living in Hollywood, or among millionares.

    • Ree

You would be taker, I assume.

    • RonMar

I've got something Nachtus and all like Nachtus can take, a lifetime supply of the something as a matter of fact. They are free and welcome to come get it.

    • California Architect

Sounds like you support freeloader economics. It won't work, and it never has. What liberals don't understand is that people are fluid, not stagnant. Those affected by these taxes will adjust so that they don't have to pay these taxes. Instead of owning a house that's 2.5 mil, just own two houses worth less than that threshold amount. Getting around the tax is easy.

    • Kent2012

I have heard parasites and kenyan boy supporters say the same thing....However when the conversation drifts to the correction of the abuses of welfare and medicare and any of the many programs designed to give something to twits that refuse to work then the screams of the sychophants can be heard all down the street......

    • Nachtus

I actually dislike said Kenyan boy with a fiery passion because he has only made it worse. I'm all for reforms to make sure those that abuse it don't get a single cent of it, and those that do need it DO get it. It's just greedy twits that only think of themselves, when they have money that could be used in a beneficial way other than sitting somewhere collecting dust. I make just shy of 100k a year, and although I can afford pretty much whatever I want, I don't live in excess because I find it wholly unnecessary. Or perhaps I'm just a compassionate person, who in his youth led a harsh life and thanks to said help was able to live long enough to enter a University and get a Bachelors for a career that has rewarded him for all the years he starved and suffered as a child.

    • Dongreg

Nachtus, It is non of your business how much money I make and whether you think I should give to you or anyone else money because you think I make to much. I pay taxes to support those people who are less fortunate. Sounds like the lazy bitching like you. Go get a job or education and earn your own way through life, like the rest of us. Lazy ass

    • RonMar

"People who are less fortunate?" You mean Obama, Michelle and his henchmen and women in his despotic, evil Marxist-Islamic regime. I am sure they appreciate it and are laughing their butts off at you.

    • Nachtus

I actually make 95k a year as a Computer IT for a good sized Corp with Bachelors I earned while working 3 jobs to pay my tuition FYI, so I don't need anyone's money but that which I earned myself. Oh, am I living in excess? No, I routinely donate to selective charities and food banks. Yes, I know some lazy halfwits are going to get some help at my expense, but I could care less about them because i do it to help those that DO need it. The people who are on rough times who need a helping hand. Get your head out of your ass you selfish bigot, and think about someone else for a change.

    • RonMar

Remarkable how you have told me your private information that I did not ask for and care nothing about, your throwing away money to charities, food banks and others who rip off a high percentage of it before any help is given to any needy people, show that you are an obscene halfwit living your life on false assumptions and lies you tell yourself first.
How about you "get your head out of your ass" and read the Disqus Profile I took the time and effort to post for people like you. LOL.

    • jimshaw54

I am not wealthy and I have worked hard and saved to be where I am financially. I also donate money to charity, which is a better way to "redistibute wealth" than through taxation. FYI, Conservatives donate more to charity than Liberals. I was unpleasantly surprised to see how much (actually how little) our president and vice-president donated of their income to charity.

    • RonMar

The better way to give to a charity is your time. You can control it rather than surrendering it to greedy people who rip you, your other peoples money off of the gullible.

    • jimshaw54

I give both time and money. Most of my money donations are through my church which does a good job of husbanding the money we donate. We also get updates as to where the money goes, enough so that I feel comfortable that little is wasted. I also pick and choose charities based on how much money is used for the work of the charity and how much goes into overhead.

    • gomurr

I assume you don't believe in self-reliance. No one has any right to anything they don't work for and should be ashamed to believe they are entitled to a piece of someone's pie. These people may be well off. Most worked hard to get there. If you want to take from the "rich", these people aren't it. The rich are the central bankers and elite who make their money off the backs of humanity the world over. Some estimates put the worth of the Rothchilds at around $350 Trillion. Yes, trillion. They have never been audited. This is money made, for the most part, with a total disregard for anyone outside their bubble. We are nothing to them. Their goal is to kill most of us off and shove the remainder in their "sustainable", global warming friendly, NWO cities in designated "habitable" areas where we are monitored 24/7. We will live, work, and recreate in our little "hubs". The "special" ones will then have the rest of the planet to "live large" on without worrying about looking at us or having us muck up their beautiful planet. We'll just overlook the fact these are the people responsible for polluting and raping the world and it's people in the first place. If you think the rich should pay, your right. Many of the wealthiest people in the world have made, and do make, their money from trafficking in drugs, women and children, and slave labor. The bankers are just sophisticated criminals, but criminals all the same. They have a lot to pay for. Don't think the guy who makes $300,000 a year is the problem. Most made it the hard way and employ other people. When you remove their incentive to work hard, you're killing the goose.

    • RonMar

Sounds like you envying those who have worked hard, made something of themselves and earned a lot of money. You just keep sitting there waiting for some of my money to be tossed at you :). LOL. You'd better bring some water and food for your long, long wait.

  • Syrin

    Mr. Garrison,

I'm glad to see you get it. As you said, so many people are willing to let others get nailed to the wall by the gov't thinking it won't impact them, then they go to work the following week to find they've been laid off and their business is shutting down without ever understanding cause and effect.

  • Suzanne

It is not too late to repeal, defund or nullify Obamacare. I had heard the rumor about this tax on real estate home sales which I think is absolutely over taxing individuals who are already over taxed aka the middle class. Some individuals I know who live in California have houses that are in that price range but where I live that house would only cost about $300,000. They are not wealthy at all but considered middle class because of the cost of living in the area they reside.
Irregardless of income, over taxing is over taxing period. This is just another way of this administration sticking it to the American public. Pretty soon, the middle class will be bled dry. When and if that happens, there will be nothing left to even fund the constitutional portions of the government.

    • bob machaffy

the democrats denied this, we told you it wasn't a lie or a rumor because we didn't like obama

    • jimshaw54

And according to Oprah, the reason we don't like Obama is because he is African-American. I don't know about you, but I could care less about the color of his skin -- it is what is inside the man that makes the difference. When the African-Americans finally "get" that the vast majority of white people don't care about skin color as much as character, then maybe we can get around to healing some of the racial divide in our country.

    • disgusted demacrat

Ah but the african-americans do care about skin color, hence the d.s.i.c.(that is the dip stick in charge) which I broughed from another site, this is one of the main reasons we have the d.s.i.c.sitting in our WH house now..

    • RonMar

Did you vote for Obama, once, twice? Will you vote for another Dem Lib?

    • gomurr

You're correct. That's their plan.......bleed America dry. We're set to face a barrage of new taxes as of Jan 1st. I always laugh when people refer to others as not paying taxes because they don't file income taxes. Income tax, by the way, is something even IRS enforcers can't defend when pinned down to cite statute according to their own code book. That's because the exchange of labor for compensation is not "income" per say. Income would be interest earned, investment income, etc. It is technically voluntary. Their argument is we agreed to pay it (or else). The IRS is not part of the Treasury Dept, they're were created by the Federal Reserve to collect interest on the debt. Your income tax, as paid to the IRS, goes directly to the Federal Reserve Bank. It doesn't fortify our infrastructure, educate our children, help the needy, or in any way serve the American people. Of course the Fed then takes it and makes "no interest" or low interest loans to cronies and foreign dictators, among other things. They don't really have to tell us where it goes, they answer to no one. If anyone truly believes anyone gets by without paying taxes, take a look a one of your utility bills. You may have used $175 worth of electricity, but your bill is probably $225. They won't be happy till we're all broke or dead, whichever comes first.

    • ExposeThem

True! So if we refuse to fund the IRS and tell the Federal Reserve they can pay those expenses themselves, perhaps it will collapse.
