People are always writing to me and telling me that they feel helpless against what they see politicians on both sides of the aisle doing in Washington. They often ask, “What can be done? What can I do?” Well, you can get involved at the local level. The local level is where real politics take place and where real power to thwart the Federal bureaucrats is at. Exhibit A is the recent victory of an anti-National Defense Authorization Act bill that passed the Transportation Committee on Tuesday by a vote of 6-3. This bill, titled Wyoming Liberty Preservation Act, is pushed by grassroots people like you and me and is now headed to the Wyoming State House.
House Bill 114 will be debated on the House floor within the next few days. The deadline for bills to be heard on the floor of the House is Monday February, 4th. If it does not come up within that time frame it will die due to lack of time left in the session.
Wyoming Rep. Kendall Kroeker (R-District 35), who introduced the bill, said that he expects a fierce battle in the House, “There are a lot of legislators who are afraid to do anything to challenge the federal government and think we should meekly obey them, regardless of the constitutionality of the actions taken by the federal government. I believe our rights are worth fighting for and that is what I will continue to do.”
Dan Johnson of PANDA (People Against the NDAA), in a press release, declared, “That, is a fight we intend to win. Two days ago, when HB 114 was going to committee, you acted. Hundreds of calls were sent to the members on the committee and that wave of public pressure shifted a possible loss into a decisive victory. Let’s do it again.”
The Wyoming PANDA chapter is encouraging all Wyoming citizens to contact their representatives and encourage them to uphold their oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and bring HB114 to the Wyoming House Floor.
Rep. Kendell Kroeker of Wyoming, who introduced the bill, will be on Arising Republic radio on Friday to discuss what has and is taking place with the bill.
