When Politicians Demand Gun Control, Remember Athens, TN & The Founders

Many are asking the question "Why should we allow guns?" Those who want gun control at the levels that Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has put forth have the idea that citizens do not need certain types of weapons. However, those same people will be very quick to say that our government will never turn on the very people they intend on keeping from acquiring these arms. Just by placing the "assault weapons ban" bill on the record, Senator Feinstein has violated the Oath of her office, and as such, has committed an act of treason.

Now back in 1946 a local sheriff had developed a political machine that had taken over the area known as Athens, Tennessee. The political machine had forced people to leave the voting booth and those who opposed them faced a beating for their oppposition. Now had the gun control ideology of present day been in effect in 1946, the people of Athens would not have been able to take back the ballot boxes that were about to be filled with fraudulent ballots by those who had taken over the town of Athens. There is a plaque showing that a number of World War 2 veterans stood up for their fundamental rights of a fair election, but this was done due to a very powerful part of the United States Constitution, the Second Amendment. An interesting video was made about this action taken by the Citizens of Athens, Tennessee, which displays that the government not only can, but did go way out of control.

It should not only be watched, but shown to all who have the false idea that the government would not go beyond the law.

It has become a very dark day within the United States today when the Senator from California presents a bill that really does nothing at all that would help ensure that another Sandy Hook massacre does not happen, but does infringe on the Second Amendment rights of law abiding citizens. No one has addressed the root of the problem at all, instead they go after the legal gun owners. Senator Feinstein has forgotten the reason that Lanza had broken about 20+ laws before even going to the school. She also seems to forget that the man had a very serious mental problem that if he had been under watch, he would have been stopped from stealing his mother’s guns, not to mention breaking nearly every gun control law on the books in Connecticut.

Many people will quickly and wrongly say that the Second Amendment was never meant to allow people to have weapons like those now attempting to be banned, but they are totally wrong. When we look back at many of the statements by the men that started the United States and signed the Constitution, we see the exact opposite of what is being put forth in the legislative process today.

“If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no recourse left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government…” – Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist (#28)

“(The Constitution preserves) the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation… (Where) the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.” –James Madison

“The right of the people to keep and bear…arms shall not be infringed. A well-regulated militia, composed of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country…”
–James Madison, I Annals of Congress 434 (June 8, 1789)

“A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies.” – George Washington

“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.” – Thomas Jefferson

“Those who beat their swords into plowshares usually end up plowing for those who didn’t.
” – Ben Franklin

“When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” – Thomas Jefferson

“The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed.”
– Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers

These great men either wrote, signed or fought for the Constitution of the United States and their words show clearly what they had in mind with the Second Amendment. It was with such forethought that they knew that if the people were properly armed, they would “preserve” liberty, they would preserve freedom. This cannot be denied and any individual who acts against the Second Amendment, acts in a way which should be declared as treason against the very Constitution they took an oath to “support and defend!”

It has come down to 'We the People" to preserve the founder's ideology and not be drawn into the extreme Socialistic views of the far left “progressive” party.

It also must be stated that it is very bad to kill children, but our nation allows the murder of 4,000 children every day through abortion and very little is done about that. They have heart beats at 4 days but our government has legalized their premeditated murder. With this in mind, why is it that our nation seems to take such strong action for 26 people being killed by guns when the very people crying about the innocent children being killed will turn a blind eye to 4,000 being killed each day?

While the issue in Athens, Tennessee was about a ballot box and fraudulent voting, the issue in America today is about much more and there is far more at stake. However, in the end the same problem exists and that are lawless men and women who wish to force their ideology on the people by undermining and even directly attacking the United States Constitution.

The government will never "take our guns". You will hand them over voluntarily just like you have done with your other rights since the Patriot Act and NDAA. Don't say this is different because it isn't.

Maybe it's time to follow the advice of "Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist". What other recourse do we have?

When politicians demand gun control, I recommend INSTEAD that we remember Philistia and the God-expected RESPONSIBILITY to bear arms in defense of ourselves, our families, and neighbors (such as 1 Timothy 5:8).

'Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears: But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen every man his [plow]share, and his coulter, and his axe, and his
mattock.… So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor
spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan…. (1 Samuel 13:19-22)

The effort to deprive us of our means of protection has been with us from nearly the beginning of time. It is imperative we understand the authority to arm ourselves comes from Yahweh. Nearly all gun enthusiasts point to the Second Amendment as their authority for possessing firearms, which means their authority to keep and bear arms can be traced back to 1791. Where did the men living in America prior to 1791 get their
authority to be armed? Do you suppose they might have gotten it from Exodus 22:2-3; Deuteronomy 22:23-24; Psalm 149:6-9; Luke 11:21, 12:39, 22:36; and 1 Timothy 5:8.

For more see blog article "You Can't Win Bringing a Knife to a Gunfight," which exposes why the Second Amendment "right" is not our solution but actually part of the problem. “Rights” as in such as those enumerated in the Bill of Rights are real and Biblical in our horizontal relationship with men. These are God given, inalienable rights granted by the duties and responsibilities God has given us in Scripture. Some examples are Gen. 1:26 were we are given dominion over the earth and all that is in it and “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” (1st Tim. 5:8). Providing means security, food, shelter, etc, so from these passages we see our right to self defense and to bear arms, property rights and security of property etc. Everyone of our true rights can be found in Scripture like this.

Before God, in our vertical relationship what we call “rights” are necessary parts of duties and responsibilities He has given us. Yet before Him, we do have rights, but a different sort of rights. As sons of the living God and “co-heirs with Christ” (Rom. 8:17) we have the right to pension Him in prayer. We have all the covenants, birthrights, and promises we can claim as ours with the rights and privileges they include. We also have the right to lose and bind as found in:

"Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.

“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.” Matt. 18:18-19

Yes, God reserves His right as Sovereign over all, but He still grants us these rights as Christians and as applicable, as immortal beings “created in His image”. So it is incorrect to say we do not have rights. We truly do, have rights as I have proven above and as our Founding Fathers intended. I do not indorse today’s state of our nation, but the foundation of this country was true.

All of what you have described above our responsibilities and/or gifts--not rights. Biblical responsibility eliminates all need of inferior rights, which are easily licensed and limited. Mr. Edward Price has demonstrated your reasoning on this to be not only Biblically incorrect but double minded. Perhaps he'll post his response to the comments again.

    • Davy Crockett

God my sovereign king has given me responsibilities and gifts. Between men, governments, and I they cannot be taken away because they are my rights. I am not just a slave or steward for God, I am a son of God and sons carry rights from their Father.

I just have one question for those who try to determine what other "need"......DID ROSA PARKS "NEED" TO SIT IN THE FRONT OF THE BUS. OR WAS IT HER RIGHT TO SIT WHEREVER THE HELL SHE WANTED TOO????? seems like a pretty simple question....now just apply that to gun ownership.......you do not get to decide what I need.....I, and I alone. decide that.......I "need" whatever the hell I can afford, and want

    We must stand strong

Will not be abridged means what?!

    Yes; shall not be abridged!

As Hammer says "don't touch this".

Any elected official who acts against any of the rights or freedoms of the Constitution must quit their job or be tried for treason!!!!!!!!!!!

The have sworn an oath under God and the law to uphold the Constitution not abridge it!!!

They need to get out of office or be tried for treason!!!!

Well written and to the point. Did our soldiers fight the "Battle of the Bulge" for Senator Feinstein's attempt to infringe and ultimately dismantle the Second Amendment?

  • ralphwylie

The problem is that those that fail to abide by the Constitution have zero accountability. Most recently, Obama, Feinstein and Hillary Clinton have ignored the Constitution and have never had any repercussions.

    • WASP

Correct. We, the People need to impose the repercussions, We need to march en mass with the arms we have the right to keep and bear, on the District of Criminals, and reduce on the spot the size of there feral gummint. There are a LOT of light poles on the beltway around that toxic dump and there should be a politweasel or bureaurat dangling from each one when we're done. Until we do that, NOTHING will change.

  • Johnco

Without the Second Amendment there will eventually be no First!

Can some of you patriots help me debate these people on the site and article below. They are American haters and we need to shoot down their exaggerated and in some cases lies. Thank you
