Will Speaker Boehner's Purge Of Tea Party Membership On Key House Committees Backfire?

While Washington D.C. political leaders battle on Capitol Hill and in the White House over the approaching ominous fiscal cliff, it appears House Speaker John Boehner has shoved conservative House Tea Party members over another type of cliff. In the military it is called “relieved of duty”, and that is exactly what Boehner has done in the 2012 post-election “House” cleaning.

The same conservative Tea Party House members that brought the GOP the largest surge of new members since the 1930’s, has resulted in several key leaders being quietly shown the committee exit door by Boehner. What is truly mystifying to many conservatives across the nation is why now?

With the House republicans retaining the majority and therefore holding onto the speaker’s gavel for Boehner, why not reinforce conservative leadership at a time when an overzealous president is making every attempt to neuter the GOP brand. Obama wants to force Boehner and House Republican eat their “No-tax hike” pledge in the fiscal cliff negotiations!

Deep within the bowels of the White House political office, there has to be plenty of back slapping being shared, as they, along with Obama, watch the House Republicans take their unwanted political cheese bait. While the nation did re-elect the president with bait and switch political tactics and epic character assassination methods, the House Republicans were still elected with a majority as well.

This conservative majority of Americans who came to the polls in November, could not imagine that Boehner would weaken his conservative hand, by shedding noted House Tea Party leaders like, Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS), who gained a well-respected reputation for standing up against Planned Parenthood, banning homosexual "marriage" and other conservative causes while a state senator. As it turned out, Boehner demonstrated his gratitude by booted him off the Budget and Agriculture Committees.

Will Speaker Boehner purge of Tea Party membership on key House Committees backfire

This may be backroom and insider Capitol Hill politics, but was not changing the status quo of congressional GOP moderation the reason that the over whelming conservative swell of new congressmen and women were to be about after 2010 elections?

Apparently that was not the case, according to Rep. Huelskamp, who stressed to his fellow conservative house caucus members on Tuesday, December 4th, “It confirms, in my mind, Americans’ deepest suspicions about Washington. It’s petty, it’s vindictive, and if you have any conservative principles, you will be punished for it.”

Yes, the punishment was swift and it cut deep into the heart of Tea Party conservative congressional members. Michigan’s own, Tea Party favorite Rep. Justin Amash, was dispossessed of his Budget committee seat. The purge continued with Arizona Rep. David Schweikert, being relieved of his seat on the powerful Financial Services Committee. There were many others.

According to Slate, congressman Amash asserted this was this was a plain and simple congressional backroom “purge!”

Now it appears to many Washington pundits, that the president has the upper hand, due to rumblings in the nation’s capitol that some GOP House and Senate Republicans may cave on the no-tax increase pledge to prevent a fiscal cliff disaster.

The true reality of the fiscal cliff is that conservatives in the House must continue to hold their leadership to the pledge to not give into White House thuggish tactics. Otherwise, the country’s fiscal cliff compromise will unleash an unrestrained 20 plus trillion dollar debt no future generation can bear or afford.

If Boehner goes down this slippery slope with a socialist-minded president determined to gut the GOP for a generation, there will be a reckoning. By 2014, the nation will have a double-dip recession, six years without a budget, and a weakened military. More importantly, in 2014 it will be conservatives fighting back both against a rudderless presidency and moderate House leaders that sold out America’s fiscal future.

Naked weakness displayed by leadership which sacrifices conservative principles is never admired by liberals. It is simply used as a hammer on them. Boehner, wake up and smell the coffee! The aroma that you may smell next is the scent of an open conservative revolt. It may make the 2010 Tea Party surge look like a spring breeze.

The 2014 Tea Party election Tsunami will be steadily gaining strength in the heartland, and this time the Speakership may be stripped from Boehner, due to being “Unfit for Duty.”

UPDATE: Yes, there is backlash!

John Boehner is a real disappointment.

It would be in the best interest at this point if Congressman Boehner stepped aside and put Congresswoman Michelle Bachman in his speakers position. She wont back away from a fight, and she is strong enough to stand up to the President because, like most Americans, she realizes where the Obama regime is taking our country.

Bonehead is killing the Republican party I will be leaving the party soon I cant stand bonehead He needs to go before all the republicans change party ger rid of the cry baby ass kisser for Ovmit

Boehner is consolidating power taking a page from Obama. Boehner needs to be purged he is too weak for the position. He should remember that it was the Tea Party that got the GOP the House.

John "no spine" Boehner is the one about to get "purged" from being Speaker of the House!

  • paco12348

I have defended Boehner many times but this can't be defended. He MUST stop negotiating with Obama and shame on him for relieving his Party of the Tea Party members in charge of some committees. Shame on Boehner!
Please, don't give Obama one more penny to waste. It just throws us deeper into debt. Obama is a wastrel and his Green Projects are a sink hole. We will be hurt less by going over the cliff. He will have to restore some of the cuts when his party of gimme's start yelling at him. THEY don't want THEIR taxes to go up. THEY just want other people's money. DON'T GIVE THAT CUSTARD ONE MORE PENNY TO WASTE!

Patriot (mismoner?), you don't think Obama is not backed by "shadow billionaires" out to promote socialism? One name alone should convince you, George Soros.

Contrary to your assessment, Tea Party members I've talked to have read and they understand the Constitution better than the adjunct instructor of Constitutional Law currently sitting in the WH who the MSM refers to as a constitutional scholar. He's no scholar of the U.S. Constitution, but rather doing everything in his power to circumvent the separations of powers and checks and balances of our Constitution.

And one last point, those "insular, hateful, bitter people" on the whole tithe (that means give 10% of their gross) not only their income but their time and talents to those less fortunate. The stingiest people in the world with their own money are liberals; they just want to spent other people's money and you can't be philanthropic, charitable, or generous with other people's money.

According to Thomas Sowell--An empirical study of the actual behavior of American conservatives and liberals published in 2006 determined conservatives donated a larger amount of money, and a higher percentage of their incomes (which were slightly lower than liberal incomes) to philanthropic activities.

Conservatives also donated more of their time to philanthropic activities and donated far more blood than liberals. What is most remarkable about this study are not just its results. What is even more remarkable is how long it took before anyone even bothered to ask the questions. It was just assumed [especially by the propaganda spewng MSM], for centuries, that the left was more
    compassionate.

Conservatives have known all along they contribute and donate more to the less fortunate than the big mouth liberals, but the true meaning of charity dictates that conservatives not brag about their benevolene as that would cheapen it.

Need more empirical proof that the real stingy, hateful, insular, bitter people are all liberals? abcnews reports "the single biggest predictor of whether someone will be charitable is their religious participation. Religious people are more likely to give to charity, and when they give, they give more money: four times as much [as those so-called loving liberals]." And a greater portion of religious people tend to be conservative.

Still doubtful? Arthur Brooks, the author of a book on donors to charity, “Who Really Cares,” cites data that households headed by conservatives give 30 percent more to charity than households headed by liberals. A study by Google found an even greater disproportion: average annual contributions reported by conservatives were almost double those of liberals.

So do the math Patriot--Tea Party + conservative = greater charity towards others less fortunate than all the loudmouth liberals put together.

Boehner's purging of four conservatives from committees without even the courtesy of informing them in person combined with Boehner, the RNC, and the Republican leadership's move to be more moderate, plus the annoucement that Sen. DeMint will take the helm of the Heritage Foundation foretells of two things: 1) that conservatives will soon have their own party, minus the RINOS and the Republicans-acting-badly-like-Democrats, and 2) Republicans will never win the WH buy (pun intended) trying to win over those demographics already bought with Democrat entitlements and by offending their base, the conservatives.

As says Forrest Gump said, "Stupid is as stupid does."

Email Boehner and let him know that he just shot himself in the foot. http://www.speaker.gov/contact
Let's hope the stupidity stops there as Boehner might cave and give spendthrift Obama control of the debt ceiling, ultimately dooming this nation.

As far as I am concerned, b o n e r just blew off - both - of his legs. Not just his foot . :)

I am starting to think if Nancy Pelosi had a sex change operation she'd turn into John Boehner. No, I take that back. As much as I dislike Nancy Pelosi she at least has the guts to stand up and drive behind what she believes in, even though she is a ding bat. Boehner has no back bone to drive behind anything except another drink.

    • har82

      - pelosi - , along with way to many of the rest of them are communists.
But your statement has merit, and logic. However misguided ,, those individuals are lol.

Communism, is a dead tree. It bears - no fruits - what so ever . Just ask China and Russia who both went down the tubes until they allowed - capitalism - to enter into their societies.

I love this caption photo. I would also love to take that finger ,, he has pointed at us and completely shove it up his posterior, along with the fist ,, and perhaps even the arm if I can stretch it that far lol.
    - bammie - , already has it greased up enough so that shouldn't really be to hard to accomplish :) .

    • sovereigntyofone

I don't know.... maybe he might like it.

    • har82

Well, he wouldn't enjoy it as much as me ,, stuffing it there . :)
I could always nail it in place too ya know. I do have an electric nailer lol.

As Clint said, when an employee doesn't do his job, you have to let him go. REPLACE BOEHNER!!!!

RIP the GOP. killed by insular, hateful, bitter people who can no longer take part in civil, sane, logical discourse. They have been reduced to bitter minorities who can only function at a name calling, thoughtless level. They exhibit behavior normally associated with. Poorly raised Pre-teens. This is a loosely organized group funded by shadow billionaires out to promote their huge corporations and given the incongruous name tea-party. They can be seen wearing revolutionary era costumes and wearing tea bags on their hats. They rarely produce any lucid documents to forward their philosophy or vision. They are mercifully dying as moribund parties do. They will not be missed.

Somebody had to lock Crazy Aunt Hazel back in the attic where she belongs; Boehner drew the short straw.

  • gavinwca

Boehner just presided over the death of the republican party, shows he is a Faschist just like Baracko Clause, is Boehner trying to be Baracko Clauses body man .

Will it backfire? I sure as hell hope so. Boehner needs to go.

  • CSN

If Boehner would stop the tipping at the flask he'd be less vulnerable and a stronger leader, but he's like a Jelly Fish with no backbone. We need a strong conservative who can Vet Obama and give him check Mate. The Dems are playing a game, and if the Repubs don't know how to play Chess they'll lose. They need to play this game by trumping them before they can say it is all the Repubs fault they fell off the cliff. Tell Obama they're not going to raise Taxes on anyone, but rather, cut out supporting Middle East Dictators and Despots, funneling money all over the world, and kick out the Federal Reserve Bankrupters who are responsible for the QE3 which isn't easing anything except our money from our pockets at the store, the gas pump and the IRS Mafia. These guys are all paid under the table, want their Chicken and Giblets and don't give a tar baby what they're doing to the general populace. We can be energy independent, we can cut the deficit by stopping the entitlements to drug dealers and lords, and stop giving to Planned Barrenhood, Big Bird, the Military Industrial Complex, and Communist Party International. If we could follow the money, we'd all drop dead at the waste. It has to stop....defund Obamacare, it will kill jobs and Americans in the long run.

Maybe someone should take the Five Iron and the Nine Iron from Boehner's golf bag and strap them on where his backbone should be.
