Bloomberg Demands Obama Take “Immediate Action” Against Guns
Well I told you to be prepared for the onslaught of liberals calling for more gun control in the wake of yesterday’s tragic shooting that claimed the lives of 20 children and 6 teachers at an elementary school in Connecticut. Before the day was over New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg made a statement in which he called upon the Obama administration to take “immediate action” against guns, as if guns are the problem and not the people behind them.
With all the carnage from gun violence in our country, it’s still almost impossible to believe that a mass shooting in a kindergarten class could happen. It has come to that. Not even kindergarteners learning their A,B,Cs are safe. We heard after Columbine that it was too soon to talk about gun laws. We heard it after Virginia Tech. After Tucson and Aurora and Oak Creek. And now we are hearing it again. For every day we wait, 34 more people are murdered with guns. Today, many of them were five-year olds. President Obama rightly sent his heartfelt condolences to the families in Newtown. But the country needs him to send a bill to Congress to fix this problem. Calling for ‘meaningful action’ is not enough. We need immediate action. We have heard all the rhetoric before. What we have not seen is leadership – not from the White House and not from Congress. That must end today. This is a national tragedy and it demands a national response. My deepest sympathies are with the families of all those affected, and my determination to stop this madness is stronger than ever.
So you see what Bloomberg is getting at. He is getting at what he believes the problem is: Guns. Guns are not the problem. Millions of them exist all over the country. In fact, many exist in my own home and not once have they sprouted legs and got up and shot anyone. The problem is people. To quote the Scriptures, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” But nanny Bloomberg doesn’t deal with people. He’s fine convicting such and then treating them like animals in cages for the rest of their lives or until they reach a parole date, rather than letting justice be served to these murderers.
Bloomberg wants what all liberals want and ultimately that is a disarmed populace. When you call them on it, they will back off, a little and act all innocent and declare that it is to curb criminal activity and that they want you to still be able to keep your rifle for hunting and maybe a .22, but in reality they would be perfectly happy obtaining all your weapons. Well, what is wrong with a law abiding citizen owning an AK-47? AR-15? Or any handgun of his or her choosing? Any magazine capacity? If it’s about stopping people from committing crimes, you will never succeed. There will always be criminals and as long as they are around, there will be crime. Laws don’t stop bullets or murderers, they simply define them. But you don’t then remove the best means a law abiding citizen has in protecting themselves from such criminals.
I’m with Doug Giles on this one. In yesterday’s article at ClashDaily.com, Giles wrote:
Call me simple. Call me a redneck. Call me whatever the hell you wanna call me—but until we allow credible and licensed, proven and protective teachers to carry a weapon on campus, we will see this murderous madness occur again and again and again.
Matter of fact, if I owned and operated Doug Giles Elementary School I would mandate that all my teachers be weapons trained and carry a live pistol openly at all times. I bet that 100% of the parents who lost their children today wished that their child’s teacher had a gun in order to defend their now deceased child.
We can’t afford to rely on security systems or chunky security guards with golf carts, pepper spray, whistles and plastic badges to safeguard against these armed little death dealers from hell.
The reality is that this stuff goes down when you least expect it, and as long as schools don’t have some armed teachers and faculty that have been properly trained and equipped to kill the post-pubescent perps, the more we will continue to carry innocent children out of their classrooms in black body bags. Call me weird, but in every school shooting there should be only one casualty, namely the gun-wielding culprit who commenced the chaos, and not your by-standing Crayon carrying kid or their teachers.
Dr. Ignatius Piazza at FrontSight.com said in an email, “There is evidence that a gun in the hand of a teacher will stop an armed attacker. The vice-principal of a school in Pearl, Mississippi used his handgun to stop and detain an armed killer until the police arrived. It seems obvious that armed and trained staff members inside the school are in a better position to identify the attackers and do something immediately to resolve the situation. It is much harder for police, who arrive on the scene too late to stop the killing.”
Piazza also went on to say that it was the lawmakers with blood on their hands. “An obstacle to training and arming teachers is the current law in many states prohibiting the possession of firearms on school grounds even when the possessor is qualified and has a concealed weapons license.”
“Understand that those laws did not prevent or stop the gun violence at numerous schools over the last ten years,” he continued. “The brazen attacks in school after school during the last decade indicate criminals have concluded that ‘Gun-Free-School-Zone’ actually means ‘Government Certified, Helpless and Unarmed Victim Zone.’”
The answer is not in more gun control laws. The answer is a highly educated and well trained and armed populace, including teachers. Gun Zones scream only one thing: “Come shoot us and we won’t shoot back because Big Brother has disarmed us!”
Friends the liberals are going to push their agenda and they are going to push it when people are most emotional, which means they are at their most vulnerable. We must be ever vigilant to be able to confront these attacks. We will be called callous, uncaring, unconcerned, “not in touch” and the like, but we must withstand the onslaught of men like Mayor Bloomberg and Barack Obama.
