UPS Discriminates Against Boy Scouts As They Discriminate Against Homosexuals

The shipping giant United Parcel Service has now openly come out and said it will not longer give money to organizations that freely discriminate against homosexuals and specifically it targeted the Boy Scouts of America. UPS become the second major corporation to strip funding from the scouts.

According to Fox News,

The UPS Foundation made the change Thursday after an online petition protesting its annual grants to the Boy Scouts attracted more than 80,000 signatures. UPS, based in Atlanta, follows computer chip maker Intel in withdrawing corporate support for the Boy Scouts.

The UPS Foundation gave more than $85,000 to the Boy Scouts in 2011, according to its federal tax return.

Federal tax returns for 2011 for Intel, the world's largest chip maker, were not immediately available. Some media reported the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company as giving hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years.

The UPS spokeswoman Kristen Petralla said that in order for groups to receive foundation grants they will have to adhere to the same standards that UPS does by not discriminating on the ground of race, religion, disability or sexual orientation.

"We promote an environment of diversity and inclusion," Petrella said Monday. "UPS is a company that does the right things for the right reasons."

Uh huh, sure you do.

Let's see, there is a thing we reference known as the freedom of association. It's derived from the First Amendment which reads:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Now most people read into that simply that people can protest the government and that most certainly is part of its meaning. However, it goes much deeper than that.

Judge Andrew Napolitano, in his book It Is Dangerous To Be Right When The Government Is Wrong, writes on page 54:

"...private entities - both individuals and private business - have the fundamental right to associate, and alternatively, the right not to associate. Conversely, public entities - like the government - do not have this natural right because the state is a fundamentally different kind of unit.

Free individuals have the right to choose the people with whom they associate. The corollary of that right is free persons can choose the people with whom they do not associate. And to take it a step further, the right not to associate with others is synonymous with the right to discriminate against others. Because we are free individuals with mental capabilities and decision-making skills, these choices to associate and discriminate are ours, and the government must not interfere. In fact, the government exists to protect this right to discriminate.

While the right to discriminate may sound wrong or even immoral, this is not the case at all. Every day, we make discriminating decisions that result in an exclusion of some kind. When I invite a small group of friends to my home, some of my larger group of friends are included, and some are not. When I have a pizza delivered, I choose one restaurant and eliminate the other options. When I hire a new staff member, I hire one person and reject the other applicants. When I board the subway, I choose to sit in the seat next to one person over a seat next to another person. When we say that a person has 'discriminating taste,' it signifies a good quality - that she has sophisticated style.

If we did not have the right to make these discriminating choices (which always result in some kind of exclusion), we would be the victims of force or coercion."

Even the great professor of economics at George Mason University, Walter E. Williams, writes in his article, which I recommend reading in its entirety, titled The Right To Discriminate:

"Should people have the right to discriminate by race, sex, religion and other attributes? In a free society, I say yes. Let's look at it. When I was selecting a marriage partner, I systematically discriminated against white women, Asian women and women of other ethnicities that I found less preferable. The Nation of Islam discriminates against white members. The Aryan Brotherhood discriminates against having black members. The Ku Klux Klan discriminates against having Catholic and Jewish members. The NFL discriminates against hiring female quarterbacks. The NAACP National Board of Directors, at least according to the photo on their Web page, has no white members."

Friends, discrimination is a part of freedom. UPS is discriminating in this matter over a religious conviction. Don't be fooled by their pietistic attitude that they are somehow "above it all." They are not. They are exercising a right. However, so are the Boy Scouts. The only difference between them is that the Boy Scouts are being discriminated against in order to apply pressure on them for seeking to raise up moral, upstanding, young men in our society, whereas UPS is using theirs to help advance a militant homosexual agenda.

One would be utterly foolish to think that placing openly homosexuals in with a group of impressionable, young men would not result in them taking advantage of those boys. Yet, it seems that is UPS' position. They have that right to disassociate themselves from the Boy Scouts. However, they should be shown to be the cowards they are in doing so, rather than making it appear that the Boy Scouts of America are somehow doing something wrong by exercising the same rights of discrimination to keep young men safe from the influence of sexual perverts (I refuse to say that their choices are "sexual orientation.")

I'll also call upon American individuals and businesses at this point. If you agree that you have a First Amendment right to discriminate, and you support the Boy Scouts of America in their stand against homosexuality, then I would ask that you look to support them and second that if you ship in the future, especially with it this close to Christmas that you call up your UPS representative and tell them you will be exercising your right to discriminate by choosing another carrier for your gifts and products. After all, there is a way to apply pressure to companies who want to politicize the perversion of homosexuality and that is by appealing to their pocketbooks and supporting what is right.

UPDATE:
If you wish to let UPS know your dissatisfaction with their discrimination in the same manner that the militant homosexuals express themselves to the company, you can find contact information at their website here.

Additionaly, I have been informed that if you really want to hold UPS to the fire here, flood the office of the CEO with snail mail. His address is:

Scott Davis, CEO UPS World Headquarters 55 Glenlake Pkway NE Atlanta, GA 30328

Be sure to spread the word via Facebook and Twitter and I'm sure they will get the message loud and clear.

Congress needs to get off their "duffs" (being polite) and put this gay issue to rest. We need a wide-open (TV) public congressional hearing, with all parties invited, including all the different gay persuasions, a full range of medical experts, geneticists, religious and legal authorities. The committee should be exploring the various parameters of being gay, such as homosexual, bi-sexual, hetrosexual, pedophiles, rapists and those involved with animals. I see widely different opinions as to the cause(s) of being gay, even amoung the gay community itself, and within the medical profession. I have even seen the female gays looking with a jaundiced eye at the male gays, and vice versa. While the committee may come up with some issues being "genetic", I am sure there will be some that has been influenced by environment, others by a combination of the two and still others by "choice", i.e., being "learned". It is equally important that congress explore the matter of children being raised in a gay environment, as surely they must have significant emotional issues, comparing their family life with "the outside world"--many children "follow in the footsteps" of their parents. After the hearing, congress should publish a report for all of Congress, to take back to their states and further explore the issues. Then, upon returning to Washington, I am sure they can come up with comprehensive and equitable legislation that will put the issue to rest. I am sure there will be no group that will come out as clear "winners". We then need congress to have a similiar public hearing concerning the Muslims and Islam in the U.S. where the Muslims have included all facits of life under the banner of religion, which makes even a civil debate about the issues impossible. I would hope that the during the coming year, they would generate legislation that clearly states that "truth and facts" can never be blasphemy, racist, slander or a hate issue. This problem is, by far, more important than the gay problem. In fact, the problems "overlap", in that Islam dictates the death penalty for being gay. How would we reconcile that if the gay hearing reveals that at least some of the gay issues are genetic (born that way) in nature.

FACTS: 1. UPS upper managment has a huge percentage of lesbians. 2. UPS forces all their Managment to give to United Way. UPS systematically distributes "contribution" cards with "suggested" donation dollar amounts based on employee level. Employee's are required to return the cards but "not forced to contribute". If "contributions" are not high enough, then employees are asked to revaluate. Empoyees that contribute at the UPS "suggested" level are openly recongnized....a creative was to shame other into contributing. I don't have anyhing against United Way but UPS bulling employes to giving and then pushing their gay agenda should be illegal.

My son is now 19 years old and he started in the Cub Scouts when he was 5 years old. He has been active in Boy Scouts since then. He just recently (1 year ago that is) earned the rank of Eagle Scout. I am proud of the values and morals the Boy Scouts of America has instilled into my son. The Boy Scouts teaches boys to have great character and learn what right and wrong is. A perfect example of this is in my sons troop, my son walked into a room at a scout camp and saw one of the co-leaders and some boys smoking pot one evening. One of the boys was his best friend. He left and reported it to the Scout Master. My son had to testify in front of a review board about what happened. The leader was banned from Boy Scouts for life. My son and the 1 boy are still good friends because he knows he did wrong. I am proud that the Boy Scouts of America has high values and morals and is willing to stand up for them. Once a scout earns the rank of Eagle, if he ever brings disgrace to himself or the boy scouts through serious actions of his own, he can be stripped of the rank of Eagle. As for UPS, since they chose to pick sides, I will as well. I will no longer use UPS for shipping NOR will I accept any shipments from any other business I purchase from that ships UPS. Any UPS shipments that are sent to my house will be refused and any business I order from that only ships via UPS will lose my order and another company will gain my business.

I will no longer patronize a company that blatantly thinks sodomy is an exceptable lifestyle. I am adding more and more businesses to my daily list of those that sanction homosexuality and lesbianism. UPS is my most recent one.

"acceptable", not "exceptable" is the word I meant to use.

Call UPS at 1-800-742-5877 and ask the robot operator for a "live agent". Then voice your complaint. This will take away time spent by agents on customers, frustrating customers and the supervisors. I am a Life Scout, and while I can never stop being a Scout, I CAN STOP being a UPS customer. And so should you all, especially all Scouts, both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. May God Bless the United States of America, and us all.

Here is a link to a video that some of you will enjoy ripping apart. It includes ideas many of you have never heard or were never allowed to hear. I'm sure it will further solidify faith in god for most of you. If you don't like hearing ideas contrary to your own then don't watch it. Certainly don't let your teenage children watch it if you want to keep them firmly under religion's grasp.

FedEx will replace UPS as my method of shipping from now on. Even if UPS recants. Sorry UPS you blew it.

I've tried to reason with Hunamist11 but try as will I he keeps completely missing the point. And even though this is actually directed to him I decided to post it for the entire thread.

    Hunamist11...
I seem to remember reading that you have children so I'll propose a hypothetical scenario for you. Say your 13 yr old son (or daughter) wants to start a group for kids around their age (it could be for anything... like a 'reading club', what ever...) . You think that's a great idea and pursue that with your child. Once this group has been organized your child sends out flyers in the neighborhood, maybe even beyond the neighborhood and as a result the group grows, expands and gets well known in the community. Everything goes great, kids near the same age come together to read, to discuss what they read, share reading materials & books, etc. and all is well, everyone enjoys the group and it flourishes.

Now imagine that there's a new kid that moves into the neighborhood (or he/she could live across town... it doesn't really matter) and they hear about this really NEAT group of kids that get together to read and share their love for reading with each other. And he hears that besides reading they have lots of fun in other ways, sometimes even taking field trips & go camping, etc. Well this kid wants IN ON THE FUN. However there's a problem, this kid is 18, not even near the age of the kids in the group. Remember... this is a PRIVATE group that has NEVER had ANY intention of allowing older kids to join. You and the other parents of the kids in the group want to KEEP it that way too! But now this 18 yr old wants to be IN the group and he's not happy NOR accepting of the rules about age limits and isn't going to take 'no' for an answer. He gets pretty mad and feels insulted because even though it's a PRIVATE group of kids and they're all FAR younger than he is, he decides that he should be accepted into it ANYWAY.... because that's his FEELINGS. And because HE feels that way he expects everyone ELSE to feel the same way. He gets his parents involved, who by the way happen to agree with their son and DIS-agree with the group and it's rules . . .

You can see where this is going and I'm sure it isn't necessary to type out more of the story. THE QUESTION HERE IS.... how would YOU handle this situation? I'd wager that you'd try and get the 18 yr old and his parents to UNDERSTAND that it's YOUR kid who started this (private) group, that HE invited who he WANTED to be in it, AND that there is an AGE LIMIT concerning who is allowed to join it. But the 18 yr doesn't CARE about the rules you've laid down and along with his parents decides they're going to FORCE your kid to let him into the group... EVEN THOUGH it's PRIVATE and in SPITE of the fact that at 18 he's MUCH too old to be in a group with children from around the age of 13! Can you honestly say that you'd BACK UP and GIVE IN to a 18 year old BULLY who is trying to PUSH himself upon your child and your child's friends? I don't gamble but if I did I'd bet that you most certainly WOULD NOT! In this scenario NO loving parent WOULD give in to such a bully. They'd have NO reason TO give in and would have EVERY reason NOT to give in.

That's EXACTLY what homosexuals are trying to do to the Boy Scouts. They're BULLIES who want to PUSH themselves into a PRIVATE group of boys and young men for no OTHER REASON than they 'just want to'. And the Boy Scouts have NO obligation legally... OR MORALLY to allow that to happen.

Humanist11 is in over his head when he debates StephenFR. To Humanist, if we Christians are wrong and there is no God we are no worse off. If you are wrong, and you are, you could be in for a very unpleasant eternity, and it is not for me to judge.

  • Disgusted!

Hey Humanist: show us the unbiased facts you speak of? I didn't think so!!!!

  • Disgusted!

I agree Levy: I am tired of all of the Gay BS! Keep it in your bedroom if you really want to be left alone. Stop saying God thinks it is ok which is a sin in itself. God says you will not take my word and distort it. You may not take anything away or add to his word. Shame on you for trying to steal marriage from the Bible and force pastors to marry you anyway. How can you sleep at night know what you did? It is beyond me. Stop telling parents they have no right to teach their own children and you can do it better. You only want to brainwash kids because you are SICK! Stop trying to bring the rest down with you. What if all of us evil straight left you all alone and you would not last because you can't reproduce no matter what you try. I think that is pretty telling as well. Is it true that there is absolutely NO EVIDENCE YOU WERE BORN THAT WAY. I can't believe what you jerks did to Chik Fil A. Now you are trying to have your own gay card so you can scream hate crimes and keep people from firing you for the real reasone. I used to not have much of a problem with gays but now I SURE AS HELL DO!
