Obama Pays For Apology Ads In Pakistan With Taxpayer Dollars

The Obama administration is now running "apology" ads in Pakistan. The ads include both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama apologizing for an obscure YouTube video that is blocked in Pakistan.

Fox News reports,

The television ads in Pakistan feature clips of President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton during press appearances in Washington in which they condemned the video. Their words were subtitled in Urdu.

"We absolutely reject its content and message," said Clinton in the advertisement.

A caption on the ad reads: "Paid Content."

The advertisements end with the seal of the American Embassy in Islamabad, the Pakistani capital.

Yes, taxpayers pick up the bill for an otherwise useless waste of money.

660News reports,

U.S. Embassy advertisements condemning an anti-Islam video appeared on Pakistani television on Thursday in an attempt to undercut anger against the United States, where the film was produced. Hundreds of youths, however, clashed with security officials as they tried in vain to reach the embassy in Islamabad amid outrage in many countries over the film's vulgar depiction of the Prophet Muhammad.

The ads reflected efforts by the U.S. government to distance itself from the video in a country where anti-American sentiment already runs high. Violence linked to the movie has left at least 30 people in seven countries dead, including the American ambassador to Libya. Two people have died in protests in Pakistan.

In recent days, the decision by a French satirical magazine to release cartoons crudely depicting the prophet has added to the tension, as may the upcoming issue of the German satirical magazine Titanic. The magazine's co-editor Martin Sonneborn said it was up to readers to decide whether the cover of an Arab wielding a sword actually depicts the Prophet Muhammad.

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said the ad was produced by the embassy, which spent $70,000 to air the 30-second spot on seven Pakistani television stations. Pakistan is the only country where the ads are running. The embassy wanted to run the ads because it determined that the messages of Obama and Clinton were not reaching enough of the Pakistani public through regular news reporting, Nuland said.

So let's get this straight: The State Department spent seventy grand of taxpayer money to have the Secretary of State and the President of the United States apologize for a film they "allegedly" had nothing to do with. Well it's nice to know our money is being spent so wisely by Hussein and his administration as they continue to apologize for someone simply exercising their First Amendment rights, instead of reprimanding those who have been attacking the U.S. embassy there in Pakistan.

Here's the ad you and I are paying for below. Might as well see what our tax dollars are going towards.

Holy cow, diplomacy towards a highly unstable country that is nuclear capable. How terrible.

This anti-Muslim video was not free speach, it was deliberate propaganda the purpose to incite religious war and division among people. The supposed producer (Coptic Christian) having a very long criminal record of deception and vice, quite evidently not the 'banker' that could afford produce such a 'brain teaser' for the weak minded. Already an actress from this putrid business has come forward repudiating the lies and false story she was told, not only devoid of Muslim-bashing with nothing to do with Mohammed, but titled some idiocy about 'Desert Warriors'. As a Christian I am well aware where garbage of this sort has origin, and would warn American citizens this is exactly what they must begin repudiating both from foreign sources, and from the dregs within out own government.

I don't see an apology for free speech here, but it is true that those in the advertisement disagree with the message in the video (trailer, since nobody has seen the video), which I also find unnecessarily offensive. What Secretary Clinton obviously does not understand is that the concept of religious tolerance, which she brags about in the video, is offensive to Muslims whose religion demands that they conquer all others. With apology ads like this, who needs offensive video clips?

It makes perfect sense for the leaders to distance themselves from people abusing free speech just to rile up people who have never known and may not understand free speech. I'm planning on writing in Ron Paul as long as he lives because he's the most honest and truthful politician to have existed in my lifetime, but Obama is better than any of the other R candidates over the past 12 years.. Republicans need to up their game and start representing their constituents instead of their corporations so I can start calling myself Republican instead of Libertarian.
We can't keep claiming that our freedoms are in jeopardy while supporting Republicans. Coddling the rich, denying gay marriage, and the patriot act do not line up with traditional Republican values.. Did you enjoy feeling like we rushed into war so that Cheney could fill his and his colleagues' pockets via haliburton? I didn't. We want free markets, but allowing our presidents to channel obscene amounts of tax money into their personal private companies is ludicrous.
Also this site is clearly rushed, uninformed, and possibly just a facade promoting polarized misinformation; watch as all the comments from reasonable people disappear shortly after posting. This may just be one of those spam email rage-engines that seem to be all the peripheral R campaigners can seem to come up with... stop handing the Dems the election and make some sense, team. Let's talk about some real issues for once. aaand Break!
